About Jane

Jane offers you professional, compassionate health care that combines complementary and orthodox health.

Benefit from Jane's experience of over 20 years in health - as a naturopath, registered nurse, educator and manager, including many years in reproductive health (Family Planning). With a background in both orthodox medicine and traditional healing methods, and with an emphasis on natural healthcare, Jane is able to provide a broad knowledge base and offer a truly balanced, sensible and compassionate approach.

In addition to her experience in women's health, Jane has a particular interest in stress, chronic fatigue, digestive, liver, cardiac and immune conditions as well as healthy ageing, cancer care and palliative care.

Conditions treated

Naturopathy offers you a safe, effective and sustainable way to achieve glowing health, vitality and longevity. Conditions commonly treated include the following.

Digestion and liver
Bloating, indigestion and heartburn, constipation, excess wind, nausea and an inability to eat fatty foods. Irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, Coeliac's disease, gastro-oesophageal reflex, ulcer, fatty liver and sluggish gallbladder.

Reproductive
Irregular, painful and heavy periods, endometriosis, PMS, polycystic ovarian syndrome, fibroids and preconception programs

Hormonal
Can't shift the weight, or can't keep it on? Perhaps your thyroid gland is under- or over-functioning. Other hormone issues are glucose problems (eg hypoglycaemia and insulin resistance) and metabolic syndrome

Cardiovascular
High blood pressure (hypertension), atherosclerosis, high cholesterol and stroke

Metabolic syndrome
Metabolic Syndrome is a cluster of major cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors, leading to a range of complex and serious conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, fatty liver, colon cancer, polycystic ovarian syndrome, infertility and chronic kidney disease

Resilience & immune
Boost your resilience against stress and maximise your immune function. Avoid burnout, depression and taking on unhealthy habits; prevent infections like colds and flu, urine infections and boils. Jane can help restore balance in your life through nutrition, relaxation and lifestyle advice so you can regain calm and enjoy life again

Skin
Acne, boils, tinea, eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis

Respiratory, ears, nose & throat
Hayfever, asthma, sinusitis, colds and flu, middle ear infection, glue ear

Muscles and bones
Osteoporosis, osteo-arthritis, sciatica and muscular pain, rheumatoid arthritis and gout

Healthy Lifestyle Programmes

Weight management
Confused about all the contradictory news reports about diet and health? Jane will help you make sense of the confusing information and will provide you with a personalised plan for your health. Learn how making some very simple changes in your habits could significantly improve your health.

Healthy heart and anti-metabolic syndrome
Using the Cardiovascular Risk Assessment as a guide, effective treatments can reduce your cardiovascular risks and prevent and treat common conditions such as high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, high cholesterol and stroke.

Detoxification
Foggy-headed? Bloated? Sluggish? Try a detox! A detoxification program can assist in the treatment of specific conditions such as fatty liver and food intolerance or be used in a general way to reinvigorate the body. A good detox program is tailored to your needs, gentle and safe and will revitalise your elimination organs, enhancing your ability to cope with the toxins of modern life. At the end of the detox program, you will notice increased energy and clearer thinking, less flatulence and bloating, clear skin and probably a drop in weight.

Healthy ageing
Ageing is unavoidable, but we can maximise our health and reduce age-related disease through the choices that we make today. Key conditions to prevent are dementia, osteoporosis and arthritis, prostatic enlargement, cancer, diabetes and heart disease. A healthy ageing program provides tailored recommendations for nutrition, exercise and relaxation, and supplements and herbs as indicated.

Treatments

Herbal medicine
Herbal medicine has a long and noble tradition and forms the basis of modern pharmacy. In traditional herbal medicine we use whole plant extracts, thereby including all of the synergistic elements of the whole plant and reducing the risk of side effects of a concentrated isolated plant component. Herbs can be gentle and profound in their effect and are a truly wonderful, effective tool in helping harness our health and vigour. Herbs can be taken in a variety of forms, including teas, tinctures, tablets and creams and lotions.

Nutrition
Good nutrition forms the foundation of good health. Our nutritional status is determined by what we eat , how much we eat:, the effectiveness of our digestive system and our individual needs. Most consultations include nutritional recommendations.

Bush flower essences
Australian Bush Flower Essences are the distilled 'essence' of the flower. They offer gentle but effective way to help move through difficult phases, to grow, give clarity and the courage, strength and commitment to follow and pursue one's dreams.

Massage
Therapeutic massage aims to release muscle tension and stress, improve blood flow, prevent injuries and prevent restriction in movement and function. And, of course, massage is an excellent stress reliever. Types of massage offered are:

* Swedish massage - a gentle, relaxing style

* Remedial massage - a firmer technique for addressing musculo-skeletal concerns

* Pregnancy massage - massage during pregnancy and in the post-natal period to ease discomforts and provide nurturing for the mother

* Oncology & palliative care massage - to provide comfort and relaxation

A massage may incorporate both styles and essential oils are used to enhance the effect and experience.

Lymphatic drainage
Lymphatic drainage is a style of bodywork that aims to improve lymphatic circulation and to boost immune function. The lymphatic system forms part of our immune and circulatory systems. Lymphatic drainage is especially useful in detoxification programs, chronic sinus and chronic fatigue
