MASSAGE
Massage is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy and is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body. Massage does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues (the muscles) to improve muscle tone. Although it largely affects those muscles just under the skin, its benefits may also reach the deeper layers of muscle and possibly even the organs themselves. Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE
What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete system of healing that developed in China about 3,000 years ago and has changed very little over the centuries. It's based on the idea that laws of nature can be used to understand the inner workings of the body. Your health, like the universe at large, proponents say, is subject to constant battling between opposing forces such as heat and cold, male and female, joy and sadness, which manifest themselves in your body as too much or too little activity in particular organs. An imbalance between any of these forces can cause a blockage in the flow of your qi (chee) or vital energy traveling through your body along invisible pathways known as meridians. TCM practitioners typically use acupressure, acupuncture, and herbs to help unblock your qi and bring your body back into harmony and wellness.
Chinese Cupping
Cupping is an ancient Chinese modality, where acrylic, glass or bamboo cups are applied to the skin through vacuum to create localized stimulation of circulation. The partial vacuum within the cup is created by heat or suction. The instrument is immediately placed on the skin in the desired location and creates a suctioning effect on the skin. This has the effect of drawing up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place like this, the stimulated circulation helps the healing process.
Cupping therapy has been further developed to unblock the meridian systems of the body. There are five meridians on the back of the body that, when unblocked can deliver invigorating energy across the entire span of the body. Research has shown that cupping is most effective in achieving this result. Further research has shown that cupping has deep tissue effects, often effecting as deep as up to four inches into the body, stimulating deep tissue to release stagnant toxins and metabolic byproducts into the peripheral lymphatic circulation for disposal, help activate and clear venous system, and even clear intestinal blockages. For this reason, cupping is considered as one of the best deep tissue massages.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a healing technique used in Asia by practitioners of Traditional Medicine, in both the clinical setting and in homes, but little known in the West. It involves palpation and cutaneous stimulation where the skin is pressured, in strokes, by a round-edged instrument; that results in the appearance of small red petechiae called 'sha', that will fade in 2 to 3 days.
Raising Sha removes blood stagnation considered pathogenic, promoting normal circulation and metabolic processes. The patient experiences immediate relief from pain, stiffness, fever, chill, cough, nausea, and so on. Gua Sha is valuable in the prevention and treatment of acute infectious illness, upper respiratory and digestive problems, and many other acute or chronic disorders.
FLOWERS & ESSENCES
JNS Natural Therapies offers you;
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the science of using pure essential oils for health and well being. Essential oils are highly aromatic natural extracts taken from oil glands in the flowers, roots, bark, seeds, leaves, gums or rind of the plant. Because essential oils are organic they work in harmony with the body, whereas synthetic oil/medicines frequently cause harmful side effects.
It is believed that aromatherapy works on many levels. Essential oils are absorbed into the skin during an aromatherapy massage, or inhaled to work within the body. When we inhale an oil it is like inhaling oxygen, we take it through our lymphatic system, lungs, heart and body as a whole internally, then out through the lungs, skin, kidneys etc. When an essential oil is massaged on it is a dermal (skin) application. In this way it goes into muscle tissue, into the small and large intestines and into the joints. This is because it is taken via the blood and lymphatic streams and therefore it also goes to the heart and organs, going out of the system via the lungs, skin, kidneys etc.
Australian Bush Flower Essences & Essential Oils
Australia, as well as being the first continent, has both the worlds oldest and highest number of flowering plants. Australia is also one of the most unpolluted countries and our wilderness areas are largely free of physical pollution. This makes an ideal environment for capturing the pure essence of nature and the benefit of natural flower remedies.
Flower remedies are not a drug and are a natural essence obtained by extracting the healing vibrational quality from the flower. This is then added to natural spring water and a small quantity of Australian Brandy (for its preservative properties). Therefore they are perfectly safe, free from side effects and adjust to the individual taking them. It is not possible to overdose or harm when prescribing them. If an inappropriate remedy is chosen, it simply will not work. The Essences may be used by adults, children and animals.
Flower Essences work on the mind, body and spirit and are obtained by extracting the healing vibrational quality from the most evolved part of the plant - the flowers. They work on an emotional level, harmonising negative feelings and belief patterns, held in the subconscious mind.
Similarly to homoeopathic medicines and the more well known 'Bach' flower remedies, the Australian Bush Flower Essences can be given internally, or applied to the external body and to acupressure points.
