SERVICES Specialising in
Remedial / Deep Tissue Massage
A strong style of massage which uses deep pressure and trigger point techniques to realease tight muscles. This type of massage releases tension in the muscles by stimulating the blood flow to the affected area which in turn removes toxins and eases pain and discomfort.
Good for people who spend long hours in front of a computer, repetitious work or movement that causes tightness and spasms in the muscles, or people suffering headaches, migraines, muscular aches & pain, cramps, sciatica, arthritis, fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, whip lash, spondylitis
Relaxation / Swedish Massage
A light pressure style of massage which uses long slow soothing strokes that aims at relaxing the client & getting the general circulation of the body flowing. Helps lower stress levels & helps with insomnia, anxiety & depression. Good for highly stressed or highly strung people who need to take some time out to relax.
Sports Massage
Similar to Remedial/Deep Tissue massage. It helps to release muscles before a sporting event to help with the range of movement of muscles which in turn helps for better performance. Also good to have one after the event as a way to rid the body of lactic acid & prevent injuries. When Joanne was working for the football teams, they would make it compulsory for all players to a have a massage on Monday mornings after the weekend matches as part of their recovery session and to prevent injuries.
Traditional Chinese Massage
Similar to Remedial/Deep Tissue massage but with different techniques used like rolling, cupping & acupressure. Joanne generally uses a combination of western & eastern techniques in her massage sessions.
Acupressure & Trigger points
Are points in the muscles that when pressure is applied they release the muscle. Some Acupressure points also help with the health & well being of the client.
Pregnancy Massage
A type massage that is specifically suited to pregnant women. Focusing on the changing body & muscles that get tight during pregnancy. Especially the ones around the hips and pelvis. Helps muscles relax & aims for an easier delivery.
Cupping Therapy
Part of Traditional Chinese Massage & completely pain free. Glass cups are applied to the tight muscles via a vacuum affect . This creates a sucking action which draws stagnate blood, lactic acid & other toxins to just under the surface of the skin. The body is able to eliminate these toxins much more quickly when they have been drawn to the surface than when they are stuck deep in the belly of the muscle. Marks do occur which can look like bruises however they are not bruises as there has been no damage to the blood vessels, it is completey pain free and is just the discolouration of stagnate blood & other toxins which have come to the surface. Good for really tight, painful stubborn muscles. Joanne will usually apply the cups for 10-15 minutes to the affected muscles before massaging them as this acts as a warming up technique by loosening them & getting the blood flow into them before she starts.
