One of the most important uses of hypnosis is in overcoming addictions and bad habits from the most serious such as cigarette, alcohol and drugs, to those that are simply very annoying habits like nail-biting or knuckle cracking.
While there is for many people a physical side to addictions, it is always through our attitude and minds that they are finally overcome. The negative beliefs we hold onto perpetuate our addictions – including their physical side effects.
Through hypnosis and strong desire, we can change those beliefs that keep us addicted. We then see that we have all the strength we need.
Whatever the addiction, if on a subconscious level, we change that belief, the wall between freedom and us begins to crumble. We start to see that our beliefs about that addiction were largely an illusion. We can then experience a strength we didn't know we had.
Many people have gained great benefit and overcome their addictions with the assistance of hypnotherapy.
Here Are Just Some Of The Addictions & Bad Habits Hypnosis Can Assist.

About John Bullock
My name is John Bullock and I have been practicing hypnotherapy professionally in Sydney since 1994. I am a certified member of 3 of the worlds most respected professional hypnosis organisations:
- National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) which is based in the USA. NGH is one of the largest hypnosis organizations and has a membership from all over the world
- The Australian Hypnotherapists' Association (AHA), which is the oldest hypnotherapy association in Australia – celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2009)
- The Professional Clinical Hypnotherapists of Australia (PCHA), which prides itself on education of its membership
I grew-up in a family where hypnosis was the norm. My father, Les Bullock began practicing hypnosis professionally around 40 years ago and was one of Australia's pioneers in the field. Les specialised in helping people to give up smoking and the Hypnotherapy system he developed is one of the most well known with successful quitters in Australia. Luckily, Les has passed his knowledge on to his children.
Growing up, my brothers, sister and I were in regular contact with hypnosis and those early lessons taught us the value of this technique. I began my own study of hypnosis and similar practices like meditation during my 20's and beyond, later gaining a diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy.
