THE JOURNEY TO ME COUNSELLING PROGRAM
Do you sometimes wonder where there is space in your life for YOU?- Are you one of the many women who are so overloaded with responsibilities that you feel as if there is no room for you in your own life?
- Are you too busy to ever have ‘me’ time?
Jane has developed this program to support women wanting to find balance in their over-busy lives. Using a combination of person-centred counselling, hypnotherapy and meditation she helps you find ways of claiming space and time for YOU.
There are three ways to work with the Journey to Me program. You can participate in any or all of these.
Individual Counselling
One-on-one counselling can be a good way to start if you don’t feel comfortable with the idea of sharing with a group.
Support Groups
Working with a group of women facing similar issues can be immensely helpful. Sharing stories with others also searching for that vital missing piece in their lives is a powerful way to come up with strategies so that you can have it all – work, family AND you.
Weekend Retreats
These weekends offer time-out with lots of pampering and nurturing – something many women are good at giving to others, but may not be as good at receiving.
The venue for the Retreats is a comfortable B&B about an hour south of Sydney. We have exclusive use of the property.
A combination of activities is offered over the weekend, including counselling, meditation, yoga, massage or reflexology, sand tray and journey work.
The retreats are a wonderful way to unwind, relax and just ‘be’. You will come away from these weekends feeling rejuvenated and with deeper insights into your personal values and authentic self.
Experience and Qualifications
Jane Gillespie spent the first 50+ years of her life trying to be the 'good' daughter, wife, mother and employee. It took an emotional breakdown for her to realise that she had no idea who she was as an individual.
In 1994 Jane was diagnosed with breast cancer. Following a mastectomy and months of chemotherapy she was so beaten down by this traumatic year that she hit the wall. She was convinced that she wasn’t going to survive and made a decision to embark on the most important journey of her life; one that would lead her to find herself.
In 1995 she moved from her home town of Canberra to Sydney. It took a year for her to recover her self-confidence but since 1996 she has:- Qualified as a counsellor
- Gained a Certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy
- Published a book about her cancer journey and beyond
- Become a Commonwealth appointed civil marriage celebrant
- Had her first fiction story published
During the year that she was being treated for cancer, Jane kept a diary. In 2006, using her notes from that diary she wrote her book, Journey to Me, to help her make sense of her life as she struggled to survive survival.
Following feedback from readers, she went on to develop the Journey to Me counselling program.
If you would like to find more balance in your life and learn how to make space for YOU - Jane can help you.
Clients and colleagues describe her as compassionate; positive; gently encouraging; a wise woman; warm; and real.
Jane also speaks at conferences and seminars and runs workshops. http://www.janegillespie.net

ABOUT JANE’S BOOK
Journey to Me traces the personal path one courageous woman takes following the shock of a cancer diagnosis, through treatment and an arguably even bigger challenge – surviving survival.
Still coping with the fall-out from the breakdown of her 24 year marriage and the strain of being the sole carer of her disabled teenage daughter, Jane Gillespie nearly didn't make time for her first-ever mammogram. After all, she had recently had her annual physical, including a breast examination, and been given the all clear. So imagine her shock when she was told she had cancer!
This inspiring and informative book offers hope to people living with cancer. Jane provides a road map to those forced to explore the unknown and therefore often frightening territory of medical options.
“I am sure that many people with cancer will find Jane Gillespie's book to be a valuable resource. It shows that they are not alone. It demonstrates how it is possible to find a way through the darkness and seemingly insurmountable barriers.
There are lessons to be learned for the medical community. What comes through is how important communication is, as well as detailed information about treatment, its rationale and potential side effects. This is a story of hope and achievement and Jane’s book will help many people find their way during a difficult journey.”
