"I've experienced 2 styles of pregnancy yoga. Julie’s style is much less rigid- more intuitive & free-flowing. I found it more beneficial & I enjoyed the benefits of other Eastern practices which were integrated into classes. To other pregnant women I would say even with just a few sessions with Julie you will receive benefits"

The practice of shiatsu therapy originated in Japan & is a holistic therapy which aims to reduce stress, enhance vitality & improve well-being. It aims to treat the whole person through balancing the flow of ki or life-force through the channels of energy in the body known as meridians. It is based on the theory of traditional Chinese Medicine & is sometimes called “needle free acupuncture”.

A shiatsu treatment is performed on a futon & pressure is applied using thumbs, palms, knees, knuckles & even feet through your clothing. Each treatment is uniquely designed for your needs to help correct any imbalances of energy within the internal organs and meridians or channels of energy & may incorporate gentle holding, sustained pressure, stretches and joint rotations & rocking movements. At the initial treatments a deatailed health history including your diet & lifestyle will be taken. As part of ongoing treatment you will be offered dietary advice, and corrective exercise, yoga stretches & lifestyle suggestions as appropriate for your current condition.

Shiatsu can help you by relieving anxiety, enhancing your sense of wellbeing & bringing balance & healing to every part of your being- body, mind & spirit. Many health complaints may be relieved or alleviated. These include:
  • digestive problems
  • menstrual disorders
  • headaches including migraines
