SERVICES

Welcome to Hands On Massage Therapy

Benefits of massage:
  • Increases dopamine and serotonin levels. Both of these are linked to stress and depression. It is also believed that increased levels of serotonin may also reduce pain.
  • Promotes rapid removal of waste products. Not only are nutrients brought to cells and tissues, but metabolic waste products are removed more rapidly through massage. It is often said that massage "dilutes the poisons".
  • Decreases asthma attacks. Through increased relaxation and improved pulmonary functions, the client experiences fewer asthma attacks.
  • Relieves muscular tension. This includes tightness, stiffness and spasms.
  • Lengthens muscles and increases flexibility.

Trigger Point Therapy

Up to 75% of musculoskeletal pain may be caused by the presence of trigger points. If you suffer from re-occurring headaches, back or neck pain it may be due to unresolved trigger points. During a massage these areas can be identified and treated.

Myofascial Release:

When the body's alignment is compromised it causes fascia (connective tissue) to become restricted. This can be due to poor posture, injury, stress or illness. Myofascial release can be an effective treatment that involves gentle and sustained pressure on the connective tissue restrictions. Its objective is to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Pregnancy massage:
  • Reduces back/joint pain
  • Improves circulation
  • Reduces edema. Swelling that is caused by fluid trapped in your body's tissues.
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Improves oxygenation of soft tissues and muscles
  • Helps promote better sleep

Benefits of massage can improve overall prenatal health for many pregnant women. Massage therapy can be incorporated into routine prenatal care as an emotional and physical health supplement proven to improve pregnancy outcome.

Induction Massage

Induction Massage is given after your due date. It focuses on acupressure points otherwise avoided during pregnancy. Combined with massage these techniques work with the body's own ability and willingness to let labour begin naturally.

Private Health Fund Rebates:

If you have Private Health Insurance you may be able to receive a rebate on your massage. Kathy is registered with most health funds. Please inquire when booking to find out about your personal coverage.

As the mother of a toddler and at the later stage of my second pregnancy, Kathy has provided much needed relaxation, time-out, and whole body 'healing' through massage. Michelle McCauley....

I really look forward to my appointments with Kathy. She is friendly and professional and gives a great massage. Louise Scott

As my pregnancy has continued, I have appreciated Kathy's expertise more and more. Kathy is able to gently work on the areas that hold the tension of the day as well as soothe the pregnancy aches and pains. I would recommend her pregnancy massage to anyone expecting. Pippa Berglund

Before seeing Kathy I suffered from stiff muscles, an aching neck, and headaches. Now my headaches have gotten better and I don't have them as often as I did before. Plus, I feel like I'm walking on air after a treatment. Nina Gibb
