    Massage Menu

    Relax

A firm, rhythmically flowing massage that systematically softens the body, stimulates circulation & allows the mind to rest. A meditative awareness creates the space for you to let go of built up tensions. The nervous system is allowed to reverse the stress response by slowing down. Vibrational healing is incorporated through sound and touch so as we engage with the natural energy flowing in you, harmony can be restored.

    Therapeutic & Remedial

Building on a relax massage, a therapeutic massage is deeper and more intense involving consultation & assessment. Injuries can be assessed to determine whether massage will aid with rehabilitation. Myofascial Trigger Point therapy effectively diagnoses and releases muscle tissue where tight bands and corresponding pockets of accumulated waste products create pain patterns.

A variety of techniques are used as required including acupressure, Chinese massage including acupressure, Chinese massage, liniments, cupping, moxabustion, stretching, joint work & home exercise. At ki Viva we focus on the needs of the individual and draw on Eastern & Western disciplines to achieve results.

    Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese system of healing through touch which restores wellbeing by engaging with the natural energy in the body. First we build a picture of you looking at your reasons for seeking Shiatsu, your work and leisure life, exercise, eating and sleep patterns, energy and emotional responses to life events. Often tongue & pulse diagnosis may be used.

Shiatsu is traditionally given through clothing on a futon. The session involves application of pressure in harmony with breath, stretching, vibration, meditative holding of acu-points, stimulating warmth by burning mugwort near points (moxa) or aiding release using the Chinese spoon or cupping. Recommendations for home practice will be given to incorporate between sessions to encourage an active responsibility on one's path towards wellbeing. These may include stretches, new eating or lifestyle habits.

Shiatsu is indicated for many conditions of joint, postural & muscular origin and systematic conditions eg. menstrual, pregnancy, digestion, headache, fatigue, insomnia, depression. It works especially well for balancing emotion and state of mind.

Shiatsu offers an opportunity to surrender. This means just resting and allowing the practitioner to utilize your body weight in a creative dance enticing the energy - or Ki - to flow in harmony.

    Pregnancy & Post Natal

Pregnancy is a tremendous time of change and massage is a wonderful support. In the first trimester, nausea, fatigue and anxiety can be alleviated whilst the body harnesses all its energy to create a new being. In the second trimester we begin to use the special pillow so you can lay face down with your belly fully supported and massage can continue as required assisting you to accommodate the changes you are experiencing & giving you time out from your busy schedule. In the third trimester discomfort is common from compensation for the growing baby; massage can relieve over active muscles, stimulate circulation that may become sluggish in arms and legs, and calm the mind, regulating sleep patterns allowing space to connect with the baby within. Learning to breathe & relax will optimally prepare you for labour.

Postnatal massage can help relieve tight and sore back, shoulders and neck from the breastfeeding and give guidance on restoring the body's strength & balance. Combine with healing oils of Rose, Rosewood, jasmine & Bergamot for maximum nurturing.

    Lomi Lomi Hot Stone Massage

Hawaiian style fluid and nurturing massage given intuitively to address the whole body, going beyond the physical and allowing deep states of relaxation. Using oiled and heated stones to penetrate & warm, the muscles open and release easily, assisting detoxification & relieving chronic pain. A ritualistic & beautiful balancing session leaving you feeling completely pampered.

    Sports Massage

A deep & vigorous massage designed to prepare your body to function optimally before an event. Or to relax & recover after a strenuous workout. A massage designed to really stretch and loosen you up.

    Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Indicated for a variety of conditions involving fluid retention, including headache, menstrual pain, sinusitis, surgical procedures, injuries and to stimulate detoxification & immunity. It involves slow, light, rhythmical massage to assist elimination of lymphatic fluid.

    Acupuncture

Acupuncture Sessions are available to clear energy blockages & encourage the normal flow of Ki / Qi through the individual.

You might seek acupuncture for pain relief, for assistance with musculoskeletal issues or systemic conditions such digestive complaints or insomnia. It is fantastic for emotional and psychological shifts. Acupuncture helps to get to the underlying cause of illness as well as clearing the symptoms by working in a totally holistic way.

Acupuncture is commonly combined with Chinese herbal medicine, as both systems work in a complimentary manner to boost the body's vitality and remove different forms of disease.

    Chinese herbal medicine

Chinese herbal medicine combines herbs in particular formulae that have been used for centuries. These herbs have powerful biochemical and energetic affects on the body, aiding almost any internal condition. Chinese herbal medicine is individually created for your particular problem, often being blended from several herbs in particular combinations that are going to create the most profound change for you.

Paul Carter practices using Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture, as both these forms of treatment form a strong synergy, maximising the results you see and feel.

    Reflexology

Reflexology is a completely non invasive natural style of healing. By applying firm pressure to the feet in the form of a pressure point massage, a restorative physical and mental shift takes place.

Being highly intuitive Robyn is able to detect an energetic imbalance that may be contributing to the physical state that a client presents with. When appropriate Robyn can clear this imbalance and then explain how it manifested. In an ongoing manner Robyn shares ways in which her clients can be more self sufficient in managing their own well being.

    Naturopathy

Naturopathy works on the core principle of treat the cause. Whether that cause is mental, emotional, behavioural or physical the treatment of a naturopath is key. Throughout your life, your needs as a physical, mental and spiritual being changes. Naturopathy works not only to help treat acute or chronic health complaints, but aids in prevention of illness.

Our naturopath Philip Watkins practices using a combination of herbal medicine, homoeopathy and nutritional medicine to treat acute and chronic disease and to help keep you well. Naturopathy works perfectly alongside other modalities, or as a primary treatment form.
