Kotan, meaning 'elegant simplicity', is symbolic of the artful form of Japanese acupuncture. Kotan Clinic aims to help clients harness their inherent healing power through Japanese Acupuncture.
SERVICES
Welcome to Kotan Clinic
Japanese Acupuncture is a gentle holistic medicine. Kotan, which means elegant simplicity, defines our approach to acupuncture. This treatment defines the world through Yin and Yang, as well as through its relationship with the Five Elements.
Japanese Acupuncture is a gentle practice because of the use of extra fine needles and specialized techniques. These have been developed to minimize any discomfort.
The beauty of acupuncture is that treatments address both the symptoms and the underlying cause of illness. These are called 'root' and 'branch' treatments, respectively. Root treatments attend to the clients unique energetic make up whilst branch treatment affect the symptoms.
This complete approach is central in defining acupuncture as a holistic medicine. By looking at the overall picture of how a person lives, how they work, their emotional state and what foods they eat, a health assessment is fashioned and a treatment strategy formed.

How it works
Meridians navigate the outside of our bodies. They are external manifestations of our internal organs. In acupuncture, the meridians are used to promote healing and maintenance of our wellbeing.
Our bodies have an inherent healing power of significant potential. Meridian therapy allows this potential to be realized. Different points along the meridians affect the body and its internal organs in specific ways.
Acupuncture is an energetic medicine that utilizes the physical to access the energetic, and then balance it. The knowledge that 'matter follows energy' is of vital importance in understanding how Acupuncture works. The acts of Needling and Moxabustion influences the Ki, which then affects the physical body and returns it to balance and health. This is also true of our emotional state.
