At Kumbada Studio, Alison Cassidy offers classes in both Hatha Yoga and Creative Dance...
Alison Cassidy has been teaching yoga, meditation & creative dance for over 20 years. She welcomes adults & children to her beautiful studio.
Alison Cassidy has been teaching Yoga and creative dance for 23 years. She studied at Mangala Studios from 1984 until 1993 and during this time was employed at the Bhava Centre at Warrandyte teaching both Yoga and creative dance.
Alison originally trained as an actor with Harold Baigent. She studied modern dance with Margaret Barr, mime and mask work with George Olgivie and singing at the Melbourne Conservatorium.
In 1993 Alison moved to the Dandenongs and opened her own school, Kumbada Studio of Yoga and Creative Dance at the old Methodist church, "Fiveways" Kalorama. Alison has transformed the old building into a beautiful Yoga studio. Alison is a senior teacher member of the IYTA and is inspired by regular attendance at Yoga intensives. Her classes are conducted with passion and sensitivity.

"I encourage all who are curious about living consciously to share her joy and embrace the challenges she offers through yoga – it is a rich opportunity on your doorstep. Alison Cassidy has encouraged and facilitated my yoga practice for almost 15 years. Each class is offered generously, creatively and reflects her deep knowledge of all aspects of traditional and contemporary yoga practice. Each class offers depth and challenge on the level that I am ready to work at on that day – somehow it is always what I need and that is probably why I keep returning.
Her teaching is light – intuitive and inspiring. It doesn't drag you along - it lifts you high and encourages patience and acceptance with where you are in the moment. She is on her own personal journey into yoga and she has absorbed the wisdom that comes of many years of dedicated practice. But she is that rare and delightful thing for me – a gifted and serious teacher who shares with a sense of irreverence and fun.
Her classes are a joy, a gift to myself every week in the beautiful and endlessly surprising space that is her Kumbada Studio. This is the sanctuary that Alison has created for all who come. And she recreates it from week to week– with colour, music and sound, themes from nature and her boundlessly creative sensibility." - Dianne Thomas (student of many years)
