SERVICES

Welcome to LaVida Health

My objective, as a naturopath and the owner of LaVida Health is to help you achieve your health goals through the provision of realistic advice combined with nutritional and herbal treatments where necessary.

......................................................

How LaVida can help?

As a naturopath, I can provide treatments to relieve symptoms but I believe it is also vital to look behind the immediate complaint to assess the impact of other factors which may be influencing your current state of health. What is the underlying cause of your health problems. Why these symptoms and why now?

Dietary, lifestyle, environmental, emotional and genetic factors all play a part. Following a comprehensive health assessment I will tailor an individual treatment program to suit your specific needs and lifestyle.

In addition to naturopathy, we also offer a range of other services aimed at helping you manage your health and helping you feel healthier and happier.

All our practioners are well qualified and registered with the professional association/s relevant to their area of expertise.

Health Fund rebates may apply if you have the appropriate level of private health cover. Electronic claiming is available for most funds and EFTPOS facilities are available for naturopathy consultations.

We also qualify as eligible allied health providers under the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Wellness programme for the provision of naturopathy and myotherapy. If you were affected by the bushfires you may be eligible for four $50 vouchers. More information is available on our website.

MORE ABOUT NATUROPATHY

Naturopathy encompasses a holistic approach to the treatment of physical and emotional health issues. Given the right tools, I believe the body has the ability to restore itself, and naturopathy supports and encourages this innate healing process.

I believe most health concerns can benefit from practical naturopathic advice and treatment. These include, but are certainly not limited to insomnia, anxiety, stress, depression, exhaustion, diabetes, high cholesterol, weight issues, fatigue, high blood pressure, digestive problems, and menstrual problems to name a few.

I draw on a number of treatment options, used individually or in combination, to determine the most suitable and tailored approach to achieving your health goals.

These include:
  • Herbal Medicine - We use liquid or tablet extracts of different parts of plants for their therapeutic value. The practice of herbal medicine is one of the oldest systems of medicine and is still widely used around the world.

  • Nutritional Medicine - Good nutrition underpins good health. Where indicated we may use vitamins and mineral supplements, including celloids, to support your diet if necessary.

  • Diet and Lifestyle advice - Short term and long term improvements in your health can often be achieved and maintained through simple dietary and lifestyle changes. We will analyse your diet to identify any factors which might be preventing you from achieving your health goals.

  • Bio-Impedance Analysis - This non-invasive tool provides information about your body composition including distribution of muscle and fat as well as hydration, bone density and biological age. It is a great tool for pinpointing areas of health which may need some attention as well as monitoring progress of treatments.
The purpose of naturopathy can be considered in four different ways:
  1. Firstly, the provision of relief from your symptoms

  2. Secondly, treatment to support your lifestyle and/or any environmental influences on your health

  3. Thirdly, treatment to correct any underlying imbalances or causes of ill health

  4. Finally, education and advice to promote optimal long term health and minimise the likelihood of symptoms returning.

As the owner of LaVida Health and the resident naturopath, it is my aim to provide my clients with advice which is realistic and tailored to their specific needs and lifestyle.

I originally come from a corporate background (Accounting and then HR) so I understand the pressures and health problems that stem from a demanding career and lifestyle.

Sometimes, health practitioners can be a little unrealistic in what they expect of their clients. Our advice has to work in the context of your real life, not some "ideal" life. That is why I believe naturopathy is a collaborative process. I get the best results when we work together to achieve your health goals.

MYOTHERAPY AND REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Myotherapy is wonderful for the treatment of pain resulting from injury, muscle stiffness or loss of mobility.

A treatment session includes assessment of the problem, manual treatment and advice for ongoing management of the condition to provide lasting relief.

Some of the symptoms which respond well to myotherapy include deep and constant aches, muscle tightness, tenderness in localised areas of the muscle (trigger points), reduced muscle and joint mobility, numbness or tingling sensation, fatigue and weakness.

Myotherapy treatment aims to improve the patient’s understanding of the condition, reduce pain, increase their range of motion, decrease the occurrence, and to help manage their condition.

Eri Yoshida is a degree qualified myotherapist working out of LaVida Health. She is available for appointments Tuesday to Thursday as well as the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.

You can find more information about Eri on her ntpages page here.

Psychology

Registered psychologist, Luke Carrangis, is now seeing clients at our clinic on Mondays.

Sessions with a psychologist may be helpful in treating a variety of conditions including depression, panic attacks, anxiety, eating disorders and much more.

Further information is available at www.mindviewpsychology.com.au or you can call Luke directly on 0434 284 516.
