Lea is a qualified Naturopath of 6 years with much of this time spent in pharmacy and 1 year self employed. She has now expanded her business to a beautiful location in Armadale at Yes2Life with much loved owner and Hypnotherapist Rayeleen Gilbert. (Please visit website www.yes2life.com.au) to view other modalities and workshops available at Yes2Life.
Lea's experience also extends to working in a family owned and operated naturopathic healthcare clinic for 2 years using analytical screening tools such as urine analysis and iris diagnosis with an experienced Naturopath of over 30 years, (whom I extend my utmost respect and gratitude for being afforded the privilege of her teachings).
Lea provides an overall assessment, analysis and interpretation of test results followed by a tailor made treatment protocol to suit you or any of your family members’ needs. Also taken into consideration is current medications/supplements and contraindications.
Lea's specialities are women's and children's health, saliva hormone analysis and Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA). BIA is a body composition screening tool that measures parameters indicative of cell membrane performance and integrity, enabling the assessment of aging, inflammation, toxicity, dehydration plus more. The key modalities used in Lea’s clinic include:
•Analysing and interpreting saliva results followed by implementation of treatment protocols in the aim of addressing and treating hormonal imbalances.
• Weight Loss with the assistance of bioimpedance analysis technology
• Herbal Medicine
• Iris Diagnosis
• Homeopathy
• Nutritional Advice
• Celloid Mineral and Vitamin and Supplement therapy
Women's Health
Saliva hormone analysis is a non-invasive and accurate measure of hormones which has been validated, accredited and used for over 50 years. Saliva testing measures available hormones that pass through the salivary glands, free and unbound as opposed to, bound bio-unavailable hormones measured by blood. This method is therefore an excellent reflection of what is available to the body.
Results provide useful information relating to issues such as fertility, menopause, menstrual irregularities, fatigue/exhaustion, libido, androgen excess causing facial hair together with eostrogen dominance, a contributing factor to the following myriad of health conditions:• Menorrhagia
• Endometriosis
• Fibroids
• Fibrocystic breast disease
• Breast and endometrial cancers
• Polycystic ovaries
• Infertility
• Weight gain
• Thyroid Disorders
This method can also detect autoimmune conditions, inflammatory disorders, diabetes / blood sugar issues and insulin resistance. Upon analysis of the results a tailor made treatment protocol can be implemented.
Harmony and Balance
Can be achieved through wellness using herbal medicine, homeopathy, nutritional and professional advice on lifestyle, exercise, vitamin and mineral supplementation as well as celloid mineral therapy.
Weight Loss
Lose up to 5 kg for women and 10kg for men in 5 weeks. I provide a personally tailor made program to promote metabolism and make suggestions on life style changes so that you are achieving your goal weight week by week.
Using Bioimpedance Analysis technology. BIA measurements are used to predict parameters such as total body water, fat mass, lean tissue mass (muscle), and extracellular water levels. This enables accurate monitoring of fat loss / muscle gain protocols. It is an indicator of cell function, cell membrane integrity such as inflammation, toxicity, nutritional insufficiencies and dehydration. Finally, BIA is used to monitor key biomarkers of the ageing process and therefore highly predictive of health outcomes. (How many candles are really on that birthday cake?)
Men’s hormone profile
similar to that of the female profile where we are testing hormones such as testosterone, cortisol and DHEA, and in some cases estrogen. Again results provide useful information relating to men’s fertility and libido where treatment protocols are put into place to keep testosterone levels in check and address issues relating to adrenal function. Results may also determine what we now call ‘andropause’ a term used for a male entering into his mature years. We look at issues relating to testosterone levels involved in both fertility and andropause. Once analysis is complete a treatment protocol can be implemented and goals toward balancing and maintaining healthy hormone levels can be achieved.
Herbal Medicine
A healing technique that is inherently in tune with nature. It has been described as ‘ecological healing’ because it shares an ecological and evolutionary heritage with the plant kingdom. Plant medicine as opposed to synthetic medicine using the whole plant including the flower, leaf and roots is often safer and more effective in a synergistic approach to wellness rather than isolating particular constituents of various plant medicines that may produce side effects. From a holisitic standpoint, a person is not merely a patient with a disease syndrome but a whole being; and therapists need to appreciate not only the physical but also the mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and environmental aspects of their patients’ lives. Herbal medicine thus fits perfectly into this emerging holistic paradigm.
Nutrition and lifestyle
Are first and foremost, alongside our mental and emotional beliefs, in the art of maintaining optimum health within the body. If our thought patterns are negative combined with poor eating habits, disease can manifest itself in a variety of different forms.
If we can become responsible for the way we think and eat, looking toward more positive mind and food habits, we are aiding the body in taking care of itself. The body is amazing in using these vital tools in reversing the disease process, working its way toward optimum health and wellbing.
A healthy diet consists of protein and whole natural foods such as fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, legumes, nuts and seeds which are naturally balanced to ensure maxiumum nutritional benefit. Eating in this manner decreases the acidic load put upon the body usually created by consuming an excess of refined sugars and carbohydrates. Just changing one's eating habits can relieve symptoms associated with gout, arthritis and various other conditions.
Iris Diagnosis
A method of analysis used by many practitioners to assist with the ‘fine tuning’ of taking a case history of a patient. It can provide information on the biochemistry and emotional circumstances (for example, stress held within the body on a tissue level) as well as past illnesses and hereditary conditions.
All body parts, organs, emotions and genetics are related to and recorded within a section of the iris. Since the iris itself is made up of cellular tissue, and is connected through the nervous system to other tissues within the body, it can therefore be used as a reflection of what is happening with the body’s systems. Thus our eyes can help pinpoint problems and imbalances assisting me in my first line of therapy. This method is not used as any form of psychic tool as it has a scientific background which was founded in the early 1800’s. This form of diagnosis has been used and continually expanded upon by health professionals world wide ever since.
Homeopathy
A holistic form of complementary medicine, aiming to treat the whole person rather than just the physical symptoms. It works on the principle that the mind and body are so strongly linked that physical conditions cannot be successfully treated without an understanding of the person’s constitution and character. For example, while conventional medicine treats many people with the same symptoms using the same medicine, homeopathic remedies given to a patient may well depend on a whole host of other factors, such as temperament, state of mind, and lifestyle (the outward signs of internal disorder). Thus homeopathy effectively treats the underlying causes of frequently recurring ailments.
