Nucleus Muscular Therapy & Pilates began operating in 2005 in Cork, Ireland before opening in Adelaide, South Australia in 2008. Founded by Letti Kemp who had spent many years working in the leisure industry as a Personal Trainer and Leisure Centre Manager. Letti saw a gap in the market for a quality individually tailored fitness, rehabilitation and progressive programme for those wishing to begin, or increase fitness and/or return to sport following injury. Basically, a one stop shop where an individual could recieve both massage therapy and a fitness programme of a sound and high quality.

Nucleus is multi faceted, and offers both physical exercise and therapy services to both amateur and professional athletes and the general public. Among it's client listings are Olympic Athletes, Pro Tour and Professional Cyclists and Members of Munster Rugby.

What Is Pilates?

Pilates, created by Joseph Pilates back in the 1900s. Traditionally used by professional dancers to keep their muscles supple, strong and flexible. Joseph Pilates created a routine of body-sculpting movements to improve posture, strengthen muscles and firm the abdominals and back, all without using weights.

Pilates may remind you of yoga with its intense concentration on body position, breathing and balance, but it's more dynamic in that you move through poses and movements rather than hold static poses as in some forms of yoga. Pilates exercises are generally performed with very few repetitions, but each one is precise, controlled and moves through several planes of motion.

No matter your age, gender, body shape, fitness level - Pilates is suitable for everyone, at any time. Pilates is a way of life, for life!

Classes are run on a One to One basis in the comfort of your own home or at Nucleus Treatment Rooms.

6 WEEK MAT COURSES At The Bike Station, 352 Brighton Road, Hove. These classes will cater in sport specific pilates, as well as general, aged and fitness needs.

Muscular Therapy, Sports Therapy & Injury Management all use massage as the key element in the treatment of pain. Along with this the therapist may use stretching techniques, heat or cryotherapy to aid repair.

For athletes, pre and post training/event massage treatment can help prepare the body and rapidly relax, strengthen and repair following competition or event.

Personal Training & Healthstyle Programming

Personal training can take whatever form you are interested in. It may be toning, pilates, running, cycling, kickboxing, weight training…the list is endless!

With the assistance of a personal trainer, your goals are set at an achievable level. The workouts are designed specifically for you, for short term gain leading to long term benefits.

So what can I expect? Well, first things first, you need to get to know your trainer and vice versa – so we chat! It is at this stage that the goals are set and sessions discussed.

Secondly, a number of physiological tests are carried out to determine your present health status, body fat count, weight and fitness level. Sounds daunting? Rest assured that this is carried out in private, with your trainer and all information is kept strictly confidential. This is your starting point and will be referred to as the sessions go on to monitor progress.

Next the workouts begin…… this can be completed at a gym, outside, in your home (wherever you decide), your trainer can work out alongside you or you might decide to just have your trainer present. Either way, with your trainer with you, motivation will remain high and you will be pushed to acheive your desired goal.

Healthstyle Programming

Some people either do not wish to have a trainer with them, or just need a little direction on how to set their workout programme, lose a little weight, make a positive health change. As with the inital meeting/s for personal training sessions, your Personal Trainer will meet with you. Following this, a programme will be drawn up to include an exercise programme and tips on nutrition for you to follow. You will be given a set period to follow this programme before a new assessment and programme is written.

Child Health & Fitness

Letti began studying and working with children many years ago. Working with children with special needs and challenging behaviours, Letti learnt that sport is a tool that breaks down barriers, encourages participation and fosters friendships. Although no longer working in this field, Letti is still passionate about promoting health and fitness to children and young adults, Nucleus offers an age related programme for this client grouping.

Child Fitness Programmes (Groups & individual): Circuit training, resistance training, cardio-vascular exercise designed around the needs and interests of this young age group

Child Pilates: Taught in small groups of 4-5. This focuses on promoting correct posture, increasing flexibility, learning about how the body works and encouraging positive body awareness. One to One sessions also available


Paediatric Sports Therapy (up to 18yrs)

At a young age when a child is still growing, it is immensely important to ensure that any injury incurred doesn't go unchecked and corrected. It stands to reason any imbalance sustained now, may cause ongoing problems as the child develops. Resulting in long term imbalances and discomfort continuing through to adulthood. Treatments are massage based, and may use stretching, heat or cold therapy to aid recovery.

Appointments are available as half hour or hourly.

** Please note parental supervision & permission is required throughout treatment for those under the age of 16
