What is Reiki?

If your head is nodding at any of the above questions then Reiki may be just the solution for you! All of these issues can be resolved with Reiki.
Reiki is a non-invasive, very gentle and soothing healing modality. It re-energises, relaxes, de-stresses, restores. Reiki can work on the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical layers of the body to transmute or transform stuck energy and heal wounds: old or new.
Reiki can help you to live life to your fullest potential, to break down your own barriers and see things in your life that you may have blocked from yourself out of fear, anxiety, or even lethargy.
What happens in a Reiki session?
You lie on your back, eyes closed and let your thoughts quieten. Reiki sessions are silent, and you remain clothed. By laying my hands on or near different areas of the body, I am able to channel energy into the body, targeting areas that I intuitively feel need special attention. Throughout the process you generally feel a sense of deep relaxation and may even fall asleep. Clients have reported a tingling sensation in different areas of the body, visualisations and warmth and/or cold on different body parts. Many people also feel relief from specific pain.
History of Reiki
Reiki is a recognised healing practice that can be used on its own or used to compliment traditional medical treatments. Reiki originated in the early 19th century in Japan by a man called Mikao Usui. After developing the practice as a healing system, Usui devoted his life to practicing and teaching Reiki. The name Reiki can be translated as 'Universal life force energy'. Today there are many forms of Reiki practiced throughout the world. I have been trained in the Usui Shiki Ryoho method of Reiki.
My Reiki Journey
I was on holidays enjoying a facial when I received an inner message that I had to learn Reiki. Having no idea what it was, I knew I had to follow my instinct so I contacted a friend of mine who is a Reiki Master. I attended my first reiki course with anticipation and I felt I had found my place in the world. I went on to complete my Reiki II and Reiki Master courses and each time I felt more ‘at home’.
Having also trained in Australian Bush Flower Essences, Heavenly Rose and Gem Essences, crystal therapy, and Egyptian Chakra healing, I am able to combine Reiki with the other modalities in a session to assist the individual to unblock stuck energy within the body, and to help lift the client into a higher level of self awareness.
I feel like my life experiences have led me to the place of Reiki. It hasn’t been an easy ride, and I’ve certainly questioned a lot of my life experiences and have had my fair share of victim ‘why me’ moments. Studying and practicing Reiki, I’ve learnt more about myself than ever before. With every client I treat, I learn a little more, and I am thankful to those who come to experience the Reiki wonder. Reiki has to be experienced to be explained, it is unique to everyone; a bit like life really.
