WHAT EXACTLY IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
A combination of hypnosis and therapy which enables a neutral state of highly concentrated attention, during which the conscious mind is bypassed and the subconscious mind is activated. The therapy is administered by communicating positive suggestions creating a profound shift. This removes blocks in people’s lives that were previously difficult to eliminate, ensuring rapid, powerful and positive long lasting and beneficial changes.
IS IT DANGEROUS?
Hypnotherapy gives you your power back to allow you to grow to your fullest potential. It is not dangerous with a qualified practitioner who knows what they are doing. Good training and good intentions provide good results. Remembering that the therapy's main function is to keep YOU alive, well and healthy. Your subcoscious mind will best take positive suggestions in hypnosis to enhance your health and well-being.
The worst that can happen is that it doesn't work.
You have the power to come out of hypnosis whenever you want, you are not bound by the hypnotist. Hypnotherapy is always a dual (50/50) contribution between you and the hypnotist. If you don't put in the effort to follow the hypnotists' intrustructions, the results may be minimal.
Most hypnotists will proudly display their certificates and membership with affiliated associations in Australia. If they are not with an association, they are not registered as a qualified professional.
DOES IT ACTUALLY WORK?
Yes, for example: In a recent study conducted by The American Health Magazine, statistics showed that individuals undergoing psychoanalysis had a recovery rate of 38% after 600 sessions. 72% of individuals with behavioural problems found an improvement in their behaviour after 22 sessions. There was a 93% recovery rate of individuals undergoing hypnotherapy in just a few sessions.
In the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis, the University of Washington School of Medicine, Depts. of Anaesthesiology and Rehabilitation Medicine did a study of 43 consecutive patients undergoing a quit smoking treatment protocol. 39 reported remaining abstinent from tobacco use at follow-up (6 months to 3 years post-treatment). This represents a 90.6% success rate using hypnosis.
and from the same journal, researches from the University of Connecticut, analysed 18 studies comparing a cognitive behavioural therapy such as relaxation training, guided imagery, self monitoring, or goal setting with the same therapy supplemented by hypnosis. Those who received the hypnosis lost more weight than 90% of those not receiving hypnosis and maintained the weight loss two years after treatment ended.
The results truly speak for themselves. In reality, helping you to achieve a trance-like state is merely a phsychological condition that enables you to be receptive to positive suggestions. This is why hypnosis is now being established as a major therapeutic healing program to change negative patterns and behaviour, improving overall well-being.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL BE NEEDED?
It really depends on you, how co-operative and receptive you are to the hypnotherapist and how many issues you would like to overcome, but generally between 3-5 sessions. Any more than 5 is rare, if there is such an occurence it generally comes at a discounted rate.
