Welcome to Yoga & Prenatal Yoga - Warners Bay
Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning union - the joining of our physical body, mind and spiritual consciousness.
Yoga is a wonderful combination of these opposite energies which include gentle stretches to release tension, postures to align the body & enhance energy flow, breathing techniques to further promote the energy flow of the body & relaxation to settle the nervous system & calm the mind.
In class we work through physical postures combined with a focus on the breath which can create a strong and flexible body, improve immune system function and reduce stress.
Each class caters to all levels of physical fitness and abilities as you work to your own levels being guided through a series of postures.
Prenatal yoga
Pregnancy Yoga is often recommended by midwives and obstetricians due to the many benefits it can bring.
Whether you intend to give birth at the Birth Centre, home or hospital, pregnancy yoga is a great preparation for body, mind and spirit. Classes are fun, informative, relaxing and interactive aimed at not only preparing the physical body, but also by helping you to release fears or anxiety about birth and approach it feeling empowered and positive.
What to expect from a class:
- Practice physical postures to strengthen the body and increase stamina.
- Work with common physical ailments of pregnancy such as back ache and sciatica.
- Practice meditation and breathing techniques that will leave you feeling relaxed and energised but are also tools for that can be used during labour.
- Learn a variety of simple ways of consciously using your breath to stay calm, increase oxygen to you and your baby, cope with contractions and reduce stress.
- Let go of your fears and focus on the positive aspects of labour and birth.
- Generate new friendships and networks with other mothers to be.

Post natal yoga - mum & bub
Postnatal Yoga classes are now being held twice weekly in Newcastle and are suitable for all mums and their babies.
Working through a sequence of postures that I put together for each individual post natal yoga is very beneficial in:
- Toning the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles
- Helping to bring the uterus back to it's regular size
- Strengthening the lower back and stretching opening the upper back
- Improving circulation and improve and maintain good posture
- Reducing fatigue and increasing relaxation
- Share time with other new mumsf
Whether you have had a natural uncomplicated birth or a c-section, Yoga massages and tightens the internal organs, including fthe womb, which has undergone great changes during pregnancy, and restores suppleness and strength of the abdominals.
During post natal pregnancy, Yoga postures strengthen stretch and relieve pressure in the upper body, neck and shoulders due to the weight of carrying the new baby and helping restore proper posture and a healthy spine.
Yoga will help relieve symptoms of fatigue and tiredness and increases the positive energy flow as well strengthen and stretches the back that has been strained from pressure and weight gain and thus restores the pelvic area, its hips and bones.
If you have had a caesar please check firstly with your doctor that it is suitable for you to return to an exercise program, however, make sure to mention that the classes are specifically for post natal women and we work accordingly to symptoms and recovery from pregnancy of the individual mother.
And of course you can bring your baby with you and feed and nurse during the class and not miss out on any of the postures that you are working through.
This is also a fun time to share with other mums and generate new friendships.

About Us
I have been practising yoga and meditation since my late teens, but it was only once I attended my first Ashtanga class, I knew I had found what I had been searching for.
Through having a regular discipline and teacher I developed a deep love of yoga and it's benefits on physical, mental and emotional levels. I was able to change my life in an incredibly positive way.
I love teaching and feel I have found one of my passions in life. I love working with people and providing them with tools and techniques to empower themselves and change their lives as previous teachers have passed on to me.
In the past few years my journey as a teacher has encompassed teaching pregnancy & postnatalyoga. Teaching pregnancy yoga has deepened my love for teaching as this is a very special time in a woman's journey and I am totally passionate about passing on knowledge and tools to mothers to be so they may be empowered during their pregnancy and birth.
