Welcome to Madam Kali
The idea for Madam Kali was born mid 2009 when I finally embarked upon my long envisaged journey to India. Prior to my departure I was working hard in my own Alternative Health business practicing Holistic Counselling, Massage & Kinesiology. The nature of my healing work required that I give a lot of myself to others yet my own being was desperately in need of attention and nurture.
To honour this calling I finally donned my backpack and headed to the strange and exotic land of India. In the first week of my trip I had a dream that I was selling Crystal Jewellery and slowly on my journey I began to realise that the universe was guiding me on different path. It wasn’t until I reached the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal that I found the stunning jewellery I was looking for. With my background in healing I was not only drawn to the beautiful gemstones but also the powerful vibrations of the handbeaten Tibetan Singing bowls.
The connection I felt with the Himalayan Mountains and the compassion and kindness of the Nepalese people confirmed my decision to create a business from my travelling adventures. Within less than a year I was back in Nepal, climbing the mountains, spending time with the local people and sourcing the finest products for my business. My ultimate vision is to combine the oppourtunity of a commercial enterprise together with my desire and passion to support the village communities of Nepal in expanding their resources in education and living.
Singing Bowls
Madam Kali sources her Tibetan Singing bowls from the mystical land of Nepal. Having developed a trustworthy relationship with her supplier she can ensure that the bowls are of the finest quality. The quality of Mk’s bowls are refelcted in the handbeaten design ensuring the integrity and power of the bowl’s vibration. There are different qualities of handmade bowls reflected in the combination of metals and the thickness, Madam Kali ensures that for her customers she sources only the best quality bowls. When sourcing a singing bowl there are a few things to look for in order to ensure quality & authenticity.
- Look for the dimpled texture of the metals on the outside that reveals the hand hammered process
- Look for a defined line on the inside of the rim
- Look at the thickness of the bowl as a measure for quality and depth of sound & vibration. (The thicker the better quality)
- A variation in the number of metals will give the bowl more power.
Mk’s bowls are comprised of the seven different Metals: Gold, Silver, Mercury, Copper, Iron, Tin & Lead
A singing bowl really is the most incredible and magical gift. Used in religious and shamanic practices for well over 1500 years, the history of the bowls is linked to the introduction of Buddhism to Tibet all the way back in the 8th Century A.D. While traditionally the bowls are used to aid in the practice of meditation, today they have become an enchanting and useful item for musicians, healers, the lay person and meditators alike.
