Natural Therapies

"Are you looking for a gentle treatment which can accelerate healing and help improve existing conditions? Bowen Therapy will be the right modality for you!"

Bowen Therapy

What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy is a wholistic therapy which consists of specific sequences of gentle moves applied by rolling the thumb or fingers across muscles, tendons and ligaments. Bowen moves loosen the connective tissues (fascia) and initiate relaxation of the muscles. Bowen therpay will stimulate nerve impulses, increase energy flow and assists your body’s natural healing mechanisms. Bowen Therapy incorporates pauses after each set of moves where the therapist leaves the room to give your body time to absorb and integrate the moves.

Because it works in harmony with your body, Bowen Therapy can be incredibly effective for any muscular, skeletal, or nerve imbalances. It can successfully treat acute and chronic pain due to injury or degenerative causes. The treatment is gentle and non-invasive and positive results will be achieved in as little as 2-3 sessions for acute pain.

Bowen Therapy is so gentle it makes it ideal for all ages from babies to the elderly.

What does a Bowen treatment consists of?
A case history of your injuries/condition is taken plus tests and an assessment of the injured area of your body. Then a treatment plan will be devised and the first treatment applied. The duration of your treatment is about one hour. Some treatments will only require 20-30 minutes.

How many treatments will you need?
The number of treatments varies depending if you have an acute or chronic condition. Usually as little as 1-3 treatments can be enough to re-align your body and return it to its healthy state. A chronic condition will need more treatments.

After your Bowen session you will be asked to drink plenty of water to keep your fascia hydrated which will help to maximize the effect of your treatment. For the reminder of the day you will also be advised not to sit for long periods of time and to move about every halve an hour to help the body to re-align itself. After your treatment you should wait for at least 4 days before you visit another practitioner as other treatments can interfere with the effectiveness of the Bowen treatment. If appropriate the practitioner will give you some stretching or strengthening exercises to help strengthening the weak area of your body.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient healing art based on the principles that there are reflexes in the hands and feet that correspond to every part, organ and gland in the body. Reflex points, which relate to all parts of the body, can be found in the feet, hands, face and ears. These points respond to pressure, stimulating the body's own natural healing process. The body starts progressively clearing blockages, re-establishing energy flow and balancing itself, resulting in better health. Subtle, yet powerful it is a gentle therapy which induces a calming effect on your body and at the same time provides a strengthening of all your body systems. Reflexology is perfect for helping in dealing with stress, keeping the bloodflow in feet especially in people suffering from diabetes, relieving symptoms of asthma and allergies just to name a few of the many benefits.

A treatment will last one hour and consists of a foot bath with essential oils. While the feet are resting and soaking the hands will receive a treatment. This is followed by a foot scrub and while lying on a massage table the feet will then get their treatment. Reflexology is deeply relaxing and you will find, that you are drifting off into little dreams.

Relaxation is the first step to better health. Due to its profoundly relaxing nature, Reflexology can bring relief directly to the area of the body where tension is held. Regular sessions work gently to bring the entire body back to a state of wellbeing.

What reflexology can do for you?
  • Reduces stress and tension
  • Balances the nervous system
  • boosts lymphatic function
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Eliminates toxins
  • Improves blood circulation
  • Enhances body's natural healing powers
  • Improves sleeping patterns
