I could say that I am a healthy person, I feel happy most of the time, have energy for work, to learn, to play. I feel positive and can be patient, experience hope and joy.
It was not always the case, there was a time in my life, that I was exhausted, nervous, got irritated easily...had no energy for the most important tasks in life, had no joy in living.
Visited my doctor, a serious disease had taken hold of me, surgery was imminent.
Searching for answers like we all do when desperate, I looked into my most intimate connection with the environment, like animals when sick, I thought of food as a remedy, a healing agent, a way of stimulating my immune system to fight disease, repair my ailing body and get well.
And I did get well, and learned a lot in the process. Today I am a Naturopath dedicated to help others to prevent disease, to get better, to become empowered, to believe in the connection between our health and our environment and that there is a lot that we can do to obtain and maintain our health.
We are accustomed to get all our answers in some kind of pre-prepared package or box: if we are bored we look for entertainment provided by the box in our living room; if needing spiritual solace we try to find it already made inside a building or a book. If sad or lonely, in physical or emotional pain...a pill might do the trick. In terms of food, we teach our children to find comfort and nourishment in the content of boxes or packages prepared by money-hungry unscrupulous manufacturers of ’fun foods’, instead of the warmth of a home prepared meal. Our freezers are packed with boxes of dead foods that stop us from cooking and enjoying sumptuous colours and delicious aromas. Our youth do not know how to cook!
The term “wellness” is often thought of as being “free from disease”; however, wellness is also a state of physical and mental well-being, beyond the manifestation of obvious disease symptoms. Many patients who seek medical help for an illness are actually seeking wellness, although they may not know it. Our current mainstream medical model does not encourage people to seek professional help for the promotion of health and well-being and deals mostly with disease management, not prevention. As complementary health care professionals we are in a unqiue position of being able to provide wellness advice to our patients. IRIDOLOGY

Quite simply, Iridology involves the examination of the iris. (The iris is the coloured part of the eye.) Each iris is completely unique. It provides the genetic blueprint to the body. People can acquire inherited physical weaknesses that may have affected previous family members. These can be detected through Iridology. By examining the eye, the Iridologist is able to determine a person’s overall state of health and well-being. They are also able to tell which conditions a person has the potential to develop, if they neglect their health.
During an Iridology consultation, I use a torch and magnifier to carry out the analysis. Iris analysis is a completely safe, hygienic and non-invasive process. It is the perfect method of diagnosis for people who may be anxious about undertaking other invasive diagnostic tests. By simply examining the eye, I am able to assess my client’s current state of health and any inherited weaknesses they may have. Iris diagnosis is also a perfect means of assessing levels of toxicity in the body. I have found it to be the most useful form of diagnosis over all other types of testing, such as allergy tests etc. This is because it tells me exactly what that person's genetic pattern is. This is something that will not change during that person's lifetime. It is their genetic inheritance.
Iridology can also act as an extremely useful early warning system. It can alert the Iridologist to the 'potential' a person may have for developing certain diseases and conditions. 'Potential' doesn't necessarily mean that that person will develop those conditions. However, Iridology can be used preventatively in these circumstances. Information obtained can ensure that corrective measures be put in place long before a person would necessarily develop such 'potential' health problems.
As each body is unique, every person I see has different dietary requirements. By exposing a person's weaker organs, Iridology allows me to make dietary and/or supplementary suggestions that will help support those particular areas of the body. As such, I have found that Iridology provides me with the perfect diagnostic tool to prevent the onset of any future health problems.

• DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, STRESS
Psychodynamic influences (e.g., chronic stress, especially early childhood loss or deprivation), biologic factors (e.g., alteration of neurotransmitters including serotonin, acetylcholine, and catecholamines), and genetic predisposition (a recently identified gene called SERT that regulates serotonin, has been linked to depression) are all factors in the aetiology of many mood disorders.
Other aspects contributing to mood disorders include amount of light exposure, sleep disturbances, degree of social isolation, and nutritional deficiencies (e.g., of folate and omega-3 fatty acids).
Many patients that suffer from mood disorders like depression, report a precipitating stressful life event preceding their symptoms; the mood disorder can be immediate or delayed following a trauma such as loss of a loved one, abuse, or a natural disaster.
Mood disorders like depression can also be precipitated by other medical conditions (e.g., myocardial infarction or cancer), as well as certain medications (e.g., antihypertensive, cholesterol lowering drugs, and some heart medication).
