Remedial Massage
When the various soft tissues of the human body (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) are distressed, damaged or bruised, the result is pain and inflammation. Remedial massage is a physical therapy involving many skills and plays an important role in alleviating pain and ensuring comfort. Remedial massage is applied during the preventive, corrective and rehabilitative phases of pain management and the primary aim is to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structures, so that you can get back to your normal daily living as soon as possible.
Connective Tissue Massage
This technique is effective in releasing restrictions in the muscles, non-contractile supportive connective tissue, and contractile supportive tissue. Connective tissue massage can release adhesions in the surrounding connective tissue, it is effective in treating conditions like neck pain, low back pain, whip lash and can provide relief from symptoms of disorders affecting the neuromusculoskeletal system by releasing restrictions within the myofascial network.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense and focuses on releasing chronic tension and adhesions.
Myofascial Release Therapy
Myofascial release is a physical therapy technique used to release restrictions or adhesions in fascia. Fascia is located between the skin and the underlying structures of muscle tissue and bones. Fascia, a highly tensile tissue, is a seamless web of connective tissue that covers and connects muscles, organs, and skeletal structures in our body. It can be affected by injury, stress, trauma, and poor posture causing restrictions and pain. The goal of this powerful technique is to unlock these fascial restrictions and restore balance within the body.
Swedish Technique Massage
Swedish massage is considered to be among the most basic methods of massage and is generally one of the first styles of massage masseurs study. Developed by Henrik Ling in Sweden in the 1700s, Swedish massage is utilised particularly in rejuvenating and detoxifying the body by increasing the speed of which the cells of the body eliminate their waste materials, allowing the body to absorb more oxygen.
Swedish massage provides an immense feeling of satisfaction and relaxation to those who receive it.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
The Lymphatic System is the garbage disposal system of the body. It is often referred to as the “second circulatory system” and flows throughout the entire body. The Lymphatic System is a major part of the immune system and it is through the Lymphatic System that toxic substances are expelled from the body through the bloodstream.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage or MLD is used to stimulate circulation through the lymph vessels and ducts around the body. The effects and benefits of manual lymphatic drainage can be profound as the entire immune system can gain strength through this technique. Additionally conditions such as swelling, cramping and tension may be relieved through this very light but highly effective treatment.
Trigger Point Therapy
A trigger point is a hyperirritable spot often located in the belly of a muscle that is painful. It is called a trigger point because it "triggers" a painful response. A trigger point is more than a tender nodule as it affects not only the muscle where the trigger point is located, but also causes what is called "referred pain" in tissues supplied by nerves.
Trigger points are usually developed over a lengthy period of time and it is likely it will require more than one massage to get rid of.
Treatment is often uncomfortable.
