In a shiatsu treatment, pressure is applied with thumbs, finger, palms and feet to specific areas of the client's body that have been determined during an assessment period prior to the treatment. Massage techniques like tapping, squeezing and rubbing, are applied along the meridians in the body to clear energy blockages and reintroduce the optimal flow of ki. Cupping and moxibustion can also be used in a treatment.
