By the application of pressure through touch, shiatsu is excellent for general health maintenance and as a preventative therapy. Welcome to my page.

Marnie Stilo

In a shiatsu treatment, pressure is applied with thumbs, finger, palms and feet to specific areas of the client's body that have been determined during an assessment period prior to the treatment. Massage techniques like tapping, squeezing and rubbing, are applied along the meridians in the body to clear energy blockages and reintroduce the optimal flow of ki. Cupping and moxibustion can also be used in a treatment.

Shiatsu treatments are performed not only for relaxation, but to aid a wide variety of ailments and symptoms.

Shiatsu can help with:
  • Anxiety, stress, tension
  • Insomnia, depression
  • Stress related illnesses
  • Asthma, sinus problems and other respiratory complaints
  • Back and neck pain
  • Sciatica, arthritis
  • Postural and musculoskeletal problems
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Menstrual complaints
  • Digestive disorders and bowel problems
  • Healthy pregnancy
  • Low energy and fatigue

The client should wear loose comfortable clothing for the treatment.

Each Shiatsu session usually lasts 1 hour. The session usually takes place on a padded mat on the floor.

Health fund rebates are available.
