SERVICES About Melissa My introduction to Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine came about in my late teens/early 20’s when, after years of suffering excruciating menstrual pain, I started looking for answers away from Western Medicine as no doctor seemed to have a solution that was working for me. My neighbours at the time were Acupuncturists and suggested I come to their clinic for a course of treatments. It wasn’t long before the results were there and I was absolutely ecstatic! A couple of years (and many amazing Acupuncture treatments for various health concerns) later, I travelled around Europe for 5 months on a life changing adventure with the goal of figuring out what I was going to do with my life. I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t just me searching for alternative answers to common health concerns that Western Medicine didn’t seem to be able to sufficiently deal with.
On returning from Europe I started studying at Australian College of Natural Medicine (now Endeavour College of Natural Health) where I completed my Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) and Cert IV in Traditional Chinese medicine Remedial Massage (An Tui Na Mo) to begin my journey of helping others and sharing with them the Natural Healing experience. As part of the course I chose to partake in an Internship over the summer holidays of my final year in Nanning, China. It was such a fantastic experience to go to the country where this amazing form of medicine has developed for thousands of years. The experience I gained and the confidence it gave me is priceless. To be able to work with the many Doctors in the hospitals over there and bring home just even just a snippet of their knowledge is something I will always be grateful for.
Since graduating I have been regularly attending seminars and weekend courses to further my knowledge in the field of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. I have developed a passion for Acupuncture and the treatment of Gynaecological Problems and Obstetrics as they are both areas I have personally had treatments for. I find pregnancy responds really well to Acupuncture and is a great alternative as there aren’t many things women can take while pregnant to treat the various problems that can arise. Ít helped me a great deal through my own pregnancy and my young son also responds well to Acupuncture treatments. It's never to young to start Acupuncture. Also I have found that Acupuncture and Topical Herbs can greatly benefit the skin to help battle the signs of aging and other various skin concerns with long lasting results. There has been such a shift towards Cosmetic Surgery and other procedures in the past couple of years and Acupuncture can offer very similar results without the side effects.
I hope my experiences, knowledge and passion for Acupuncture and it's positive effects can be passed on to help you find your way to a happier and healthier body, mind, spirit and lifestyle.... naturally!
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Wrinkles, fines lines, dark circles, puffiness, acne, pigmentation, sun damage, tired, dry, dull skin
Are any of these visible signs of aging worrying you?
Cosmetic Acupuncture might be just what your looking for!
Cosmetic Acupuncture is a non-invasive way to improve your skin's appearance. Treatments are tailored to your individual needs and slow the effects of aging by softening and smoothing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, reducing the appearance of blemishes on the face and enhancing your complexion naturally by enhancing your skins tone and elasticity. The effects are long lasting and it's a great natural alternative to invasive surgical procedures, botox, chemical peels and other procedures aimed at improving the skin. Treatments are personalised as they don't just focus on your face but also take into account your whole body as imbalances in your body can show up on your face. Not only will you be glowing on the outside but you will be addressing your inner health as well. Treatments are finished with a relaxing Facial Massage.
Cosmetic Topical Herb Treatment
Can be used as a treatment on its own or as a perfect addition to your Cosmetic Acupuncture Treatment. Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture is part of an integrated system of primary health care known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is one of the oldest forms of healing in the world with its history of development dating back thousands of years in China and other parts of East Asia.
Acupuncture doesn't just treat the presenting signs and symptoms, it takes into account any underlying conditions, other health problems and your general state of health and well-being which gives an overview of your body as a whole. Acupuncture focuses as much on prevention of illness as on the treatment of specific health concerns.
Acupuncture treatments involve the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific points along the meridians of the body. These points and/or meridians can become blocked when there is a disharmony in the body. By stimulating these points, it clears blockages and encourages the smooth flow of energy or Qi (pronounced 'chee'') through the body.
Acupuncture points can also be stimulated using other methods like moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, electro-stimulation, acupressure and massage.
Chinese Herbal Medicine is another method that can be used to restore harmony in the body along with your Acupuncture treatment. With a history going back thousands of years, these formulas are designed for individual conditions so the right formula can be found to suit your needs. Herbal formulas are in capsule form so there is no nasty taste when taking them.
