What is Counselling?
Counselling gives you an expert, confidential, safe and supportive relationship that allows you to communicate freely about any difficulties you may be facing, along with positive experiences in your life. We can offer you face-to-face counselling or online counselling via Skype.
The exploration of your emotions, thoughts and behaviour are at the heart of the counselling process. In a counselling session, key beliefs about yourself and the world are analysed to re-evaluate their purpose or validity so you can discover new ways of existing in the world.
What Counselling is not
Counselling is not about giving advice! Our therapist does not lecture you with plain and simple solutions to your problems or introduce their own opinion about yours other people’s actions.
A counsellor will listen without having to impose their beliefs and values onto you. It is their aim to provide a safe environment and space to allow you to examine and explore your feelings, behaviours and thoughts.
In the event that you are encountering negative self-thoughts, frequently feeling furious, stressed, guilty or frustrated, counselling may be for you. People often need someone who will openly listen to their thoughts and feelings and it can be difficult to do this with people that are close to you without them imposing their own opinions on the situation.
