About Miriam
Miriam offers counseling, psychotherapy and art therapy in a professional, safe, confidential and caring environment. She is passionate about our capacity to create the deep and lasting changes we seek, in our relationships, our work and ourselves. She brings compassion and sensitivity to each session and offers a supportive and safe environment.

We all have within us the wisdom and essence of our true nature and highest potential. However, often the truth of who we really are gets buried under a lifetime of conditioned behaviours, negative and untrue belief systems and cellular memories of past traumas and injuries.
Using one or more of the modalities described below – which I will tailor to personally support you as an individual – I help you to discover the cause (usually childhood) of any of the issues you are facing and facilitate healing and integration in a safe and nurturing way.

Counselling can help you gain insight into a current concern and explore options and choices. In my many years of experience, I have learnt that if a person is given a safe, non-judgemental place to talk about their experience, the body system can feel relieved of internal pressure to 'keep it all together'. Counselling can offer you new and different strategies to manage the demands of your life.
Psychotherapy is often longer term and enables the unconscious of your life to become conscious or hold a light to what is often unseen. Through the process you will gain insight into how problems arise and begin to find the resolution of long standing difficulties and cycles. The security of the therapist-client relationship cultivates emotional growth and will give you the tools you need to continue to grow and evolve emotionally, long after the sessions have ended.

What is Art Therapy?
Art Therapy is a creative process, suitable for all ages, and particularly for those who may be experiencing life changes or trauma or for those who are experiencing difficulty in accessing or expressing their emotions. It differs from traditional art in that the emphasis is on the process of creating rather than on the end product.
Art processes are very useful for getting to the core emotion of an issue as they access a deeper level of the unconscious mind than ‘talk therapy’. Through giving attention to the inner experience (felt sense) and making meaning of the symbols uncovered, the client’s emotions are activated, reflected upon and expressed. This work is beneficial for those that find it hard to talk about difficult issues. Creating art or being expressive is another language that can be used to help deal with emotional issues. No artistic ability is required for Art Therapy work.
WHAT CAN I GAIN FROM THIS THERAPY?
This service offers you an opportunity to discover how creative expression can open a doorway in dealing with emotional issues and crisis, creating a sense of wellbeing and a reframing of life issues. This work is particularly beneficial for those suffering depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, stress, low self-esteem and life change. The experience is transformative and life changing.
Transpersonal work is based on a psycho-spiritual framework, or soul work. This work helps you connect to your inner self and for you to find your own potential to heal emotional issues. This work also helps you to explore the desires and passions that you really want in your life.
The most important factor in the therapeutic process is for you to feel safe and in an environment where you can confidently disclose personal issues. My role as the therapist is to assist and guide you to be proactive in your healing journey so that you are fully engaged in the sessions. I will help you use art materials and other expressive processes. You can either:- Paint, draw, use clay, explore movement, dreamwork or guided imagery
DO I HAVE TO BE GOOD AT ART OR DRAWING?
No, art therapy is not about being artistic and making great artwork. This is an opportunity for you to express yourself in an enjoyable and creative way without judgement.
Miriam is also available to run groups from 6-12 people. This can be an ongoing weekly group for 6-8 weeks or a one-off workshop.

This 7-step healing program may help participants to express and transform feelings of emotional pain and loss and assist in moving on from a painful experience by honouring what it has taught them.
The program involves a weekly 2-hour group session and runs for 7 weeks.Each step will involve a combination of reflection, drawing, collage, journalling and sometimes guided visualisation and movement.

Qualification Details
Miriam Prendeville is a Psychotherapist, Transpersonal Art Therapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist who gained her qualifications at the Irish College of Holistic Medicine, Dublin, The Phoenix Institute, Melbourne and The Australian Academy of Hypnosis.
Over the past 10 years, Miriam has also studied different energetic and spiritual healing modalities related to imagery, trance induction and hypnosis.
