What is the tarot?
The origin of the tarot is not precisely known: it was introduced to the wider world during the Renaissance. Early documentation shows that tarot was being used for divination in Bologna, Italy circa 1750. Tarot historian Paul Huson has tracked the origin of the minor arcana to ancient Persia, and the major arcana to medieval mystery, miracle and morality plays.
Made up of 78 cards, the tarot deck is full of colourful imagery of archetypes that represent different aspects of the human psyche. Having a tarot reading done by a psychic allows the information to be more personalised - going well beyond just having a description of the cards. The cards however, being as ancient and enigmatic as they are, always have their own story to tell...
About Psychic Sarah
Sarah Barry (“Psychic Sarah”) is a popular psychic tarot reader working at Pure Botanicals Newtown, Sydney, Australia. Well-known for her calm and grounded presence, her readings are widely regarded as unique, accurate and inspiring.
Although aware of her psychic ability from an early age, she largely ignored this quality until the ripe old age of 24, when she started reading tarot cards for friends and family. She eased herself into reading for the public part-time in 2002 and made the transition to full-time professional tarot reader in May 2003.
Tarot reading is a career that helps her understand the complexities of humanity, and she enjoys the huge cross-section of society she has the good fortune to meet.

How Psychic Sarah Works
Sarah uses the tarot as a tool rather than a definitive source in itself. It is her intuition/ psychic ability that allows her to translate what she sees unfolding for you. The cards are used as visual flash cards primarily to make the reading more accessible to you. You can see what cards are appearing and can have your own way of relating to them.
Tarot cards have an ancient history. They have their own way of working that can be very beautiful, serendipitous and relevant. The longer Sarah uses the cards, the more she learns about their mysteriousness, and finds that using them in readings allows a more grounded and natural human understanding.
Sarah does not expect you to subscribe to any particular belief system in order for the reading to make sense. She is non-sectarian in her approach and refers to energy simply as energy without creating a particular name or image for it. To this end, she does not refer to spirit guides, gods/goddesses, animal totems, angels, fairies, deceased people, past-lives etc. This is not to deny others’ relationships with those particular descriptions – more just a way of keeping the reading universal, and as close to a translatable reality as possible.
