The traditional gentle acupuncture and moxibustion techniques used in The Light Acupuncture Centre clinics have been learned from working with senior practitioners from Australia, Japan, China, and the USA. These techniques are relaxing, soft, warming and nourishing to the body’s systems. Needles are single use and slender.

The practitioners help people by teaching them about the importance of balancing the mind, body and spirit using the TCM's philosophy. Nutrition and balanced diet play a vital role in health and well-being. Great emphasis on nutrition is included in the consultation so your our eating correctly for your body type. The Light Acupuncture Centre looks at the big picture of long term health impacts that can be changed in the short term via dietary and life style advice.

Nadja is an allied health practitioner working from Sunshine Coast Private Hospital and a clinic in Mudjimba. She is the only acupuncturist who provides acupuncture and advice on traditional Chinese herbal medicine at the hospital. Nadja provides an exclusive service for clients of the hospital pre, during and post labour.

Acupuncture during pregnancy helps with many conditions and is received well by clients. Since many Western medical treatments cannot be used during this time acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine is a safe, gentle and reliable. There are no adverse effects or contra-indications of acupuncture. It is completely safe when done by a qualified practitioner.

Our Services

Traditional Chinese Medicine has evolved over 4,000 years. These are the components of the medicine:

Acupuncture: This is the art of placing fine pins into the acupuncture points along meridians to activate Qi (energy) and achieve balance of the yin and yang energy within meridians.

Cupping: Cupping is a technique employed to complement acupuncture in the relief of pain. It increases blood circulation and aids in healing by encouraging new blood flow to the area of concern. Sometimes this may result with a bruise but this indicates there was stagnation and movement has occurred.

Moxibustion: The use of smoldering mugwart in treatment is soothing and relaxing. It can be used in various ways to move stagnation and pain, improving blood circulation warming and relaxing spasms and cold contractions, improving lymphatic circulation, assisting increasing energy and blood production and strengthening the immune systems.

During and after treatment, you can expect to feel relaxed giving your body an opportunity to reset and recharge, leaving you feeling balanced and calm.
