Welcome to Natal Focus Doula Services
The word Doula is a Greek word meaning 'woman's servant'. We are birthing professional hired by the woman to advocate, encourage, empower, inform and support in a non-judgemental way.
The Role of a Doula is dependant on the individual woman. I offer birth-planning, labour and birth support, provide information, provide postpartum care at home including, breastfeeding support, newborn care assistance, errands, light housekeeping and cooking.
Care is individually assessed, dependent on your needs and desires.
I provide unbiased information, empowering energy and respect in assisting you on your journey.
The Role of a Doula
A Doula offers physical and emotional support during pregnancy, labour, birth and post-natally. I will attend a hospital, birthing centre, home birth and/or support you during labour at home. A Doula also supports Husbands, Mothers, Sisters or other birthing partners who may be present. We are another member of the birthing team focused on helping you achieve your desired birth and avoid unwanted and unnecessary interventions.
About Danielle Toonen
I am a Mother of three young boys, an Enrolled Nurse and most excitedly a Doula! I have birthed three beautiful big babies myself and have always been passionate about working closely with birthing families.
I was unaware of this truly amazing support and empowering energy a woman could bring to the transforming experience of birth until my third labour. I had the support of a birthing professional. Her presence, encouragement, touch and wisdom far exceeded my expectations and cemented my drive to impart that gift to other women. I endeavour to nurture women through the transforming experience of birthing their babies. I bring an open mind and heart and am always honoured to be invited into the birth space.
