Counselling Is : A chance to spend time with a caring, non-judgemental professional who will help you explore difficulties in your life, whether personal or relationship related. The aim is to help you reach a better place in your life, through understanding, acceptance or course of action.
Counselling is not something that happens to you but is a collaborative process. Meredith will work with you as a team to help you find your strengths, focusing on solutions rather than problems & helping you build your skills & abilities to improve the quality & enjoyment of your life. By knowledge & building on your own strengths, empowering you to be the person you can be.
The counselling approaches Meredith uses are many, including person centred therapy, solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, behaviour therapy, narrative therapy & more.
Life Coaching : Meredith offers the chance for people to look at their lives, look at their goals, prioritise their goals, assess obstacles or skills needed & together work out an action plan to help move towards the future they want to have. Life coaching helps people to find their life direction or, alternatively it could be that a person reaches a point in their life where they don't know who they are or what they like or where they want their life to progress from now. This often happens in the lives of people who have raised a family or been (or still are) a carer & have had no time to think of their own needs, or have come out of a controlling or abusive marriage or partnership. Even having a busy fulfilling career can leave a person wondering - who am I apart from this hardworking person who goes to work then comes home exhausted, leaving little time or energy for anything else.
Life coaching can also help people with a chronic illness including cancer. When faced with a major disability or illness, people find themselves wondering how to cope & where to go from here. They don't always know who they are in the context of their changed lives.

You do not need a referral to see Meredith. Your privacy & confidentiality are taken very seriously within the legal & ethical limits of confidentiality.
You will always be treated with dignity & respect. Meredith understands that it may take courage to seek counselling but it is worthwhile to take that first step.

Code of Ethics and Practice : Meredith is a member of the Australian Counselling Association and the South Australian Professional Counsellors Association and is bound by their codes of ethics and practice.
Meredith's Qualifications:
Dip. Prof.Couns.(Grief & Loss), (Relationships), (Child Development)
Meredith has a Diploma in Professional Counselling and majored in Grief & Loss Counselling, Relationship Counselling & Conflict Resolution, and also Child Development & Effective Parenting. She undertakes ongoing education and supervision.
