What is Nutritional Medicine?

Nutritional Medicine is the science and art of preventing disease and attaining optimal health through the use of nutrients obtained through the diet or through specific nutritional supplements. It is the basis of good health. A Nutritionist treats the causes of disease by taking into account the whole person, the inter-relationship of body systems, and the interaction of mind, body and spirit.

About Optimal Nutrition Solutions

I am a qualified nutritionist, with a bachelor degree in Nutritional Medicine. For almost 20 years, I suffered with Irritable Bowel Syndrome as my doctors told me there was nothing much I could do! I studied Nutritional Medicine as I was amazed at the body's ability to heal itself from disease when given the right conditions. I commenced healing my gut with changes to my diet, managing my stress, and taking specific nutrients which help to heal the gut. I haven't had any symptoms for over 4 years. My passion is now to help others to heal their bodies.

My area of special interest is gastro-intestinal disturbances such as IBS, Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease, constipation etc. However a can help you with almost any health issue. Did you know that gut disturbances are linked to the development of many other conditions such as autoimmune diseases.

As the mother of two children, I am also interested in helping children with issues such as allergies, food intolerances, autism and insomnia ;">What will happen during my consultation?

A comprehensive questionnaire will be sent to you prior to your first visit. This will help me to assess all factors that may be affecting your health. You should bring any recent blood tests to your appointment as they may assist in monitoring your health. Health assessments that I may perform include blood pressure, and iris, tongue and nail analysis. Zinc levels and pH testing can be performed easily in the clinic. I may also ask you to complete food diaries and/or other symptom charting. I am also able to organize functional pathology testing for you, such as Food Sensitivity Profiles, Gastrointestinal Tract Tests, and Hormone Profiles.
