With over 75 years combined clinical experience in Hands-On Healthcare for the whole family
SERVICES Welcome to Paddington Osteopathy
The Osteopaths David Moor, Peter Edwards and Roger Engel at Paddington Osteopathy, have over 75 years of osteopathic clinical experience between them.
They have all been involved with teaching at a number of Australian Universities, and are dedicated to caring, effective osteopathic health care.
The practitioners all employ a direct, hands on approach to structural and functional problems.
In treatment they use a range of soft tissue, joint mobilisation and manipulation techniques.
Special areas of interest and expertise include sports injuries, breathing disorders, and temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
Your First Visit.
The initial consultation with an osteopath can take between 45 minutes to an hour. The process involves the osteopath taking a thorough case history, then a physical examination, usually followed by the treatment.
The case history is taken in the privacy of the consulting room, and involves the usual clerical information, details of your present problem and then some questioning in regards to your past history including any medical complaints.
As part of the consultation you will be asked to read a patient consent form and then be given the opportunity to ask the osteopath any questions you may have about the treatment and prognosis etc.
Next comes the examination, where it will be necessary to undress to your underwear (gowns are provided or clothing similar to beach or gym wear can be worn). Here, general posture, mobility and the appearance of the affected area are all relevant and important points noted. Any special tests are now carried out to help with the differential diagnosis of your particular problem.
Once all this information has been attained and a diagnosis reached, the treatment (if appropriate) can begin. In select cases, patients may be referred for other special investigations such as X-rays or to consult their GP.
The process with your osteopath is a collaborative one from start to finish; from the initial case history to the end of your treatment(s). Try to be as honest as possible and feel free to tell your osteopath if there is anything about this process you find troubling.
