Science can now prove what the yogis have been saying for thousands of years.

Yoga is healing. Yoga does bring peace to your mind.

Sophie teaches you the art of relaxation in a one hour Yoga class which links the body and the breath.

You will learn how to align your body correctly so that you finish the class feeling blissful. You will strengthen your body so that you become stronger in every muscle group and your core. You will stretch so that you become flexible in the body and also in the mind.

TESTIMONIALS:

Receiving personal attention means a lot to me. I have had 9 different teachers in the past and never received this attention before. The classes flow leaving me with an overall sense of wellbeing. I have a serious lung condition and the well balanced classes have enabled me to stabilise my illness thereby allowing me a better quality of life.

I have attended many yoga classes, and can honestly say I have fallen in love with Sophies classes. They are heart centred, inspiring and filled with peace and wisdom. Sophie is truly in her element when she is teaching yoga. She is mindful of her teaching and adjusts the class to suit the level of the students, including modifiying poses for students with limitations/ injuries. I always leave feeling centred, balanced and happier. Thankyou Sophie, it’s truly been a pleasure to see you grow into your yoga teaching.

Why don't you read my blog below, this is updated regularly:

February 2012:

Be here right NOW.

There is a power in being in the present moment. Our minds are so busy, thinking all sorts of thoughts. Some people say that we actually repeat the same thoughts over and over, and that 80-90% of our thoughts are repetitive.

Yes, you had that same thought yesterday, and the day before.

If this is true it means that only 10-20% of your thoughts are new and relevant. Perhaps for the rest of the time we could consider quietening the mind. One way to achieve this is to come into the present moment.

As you read this, slow down, and read each word, feel your body, notice your breath. When you begin to bring this type of awareness into each moment, your mind clears, your body relaxes and you begin to notice what is happening around you in much more detail.

Coming into the present moment reveals a beauty to life. Maybe you begin to notice light reflecting in ways you only remember as a child. Or maybe you begin to feel sensations more vividly. Or perhaps you notice sound more alertly. Being present certainly does have a child like quality about it.

One of my favourite things to do is to slow down when I cook. I bring a real sense of mindfulness into this activity. Cutting different vegetable, I really look at them and notice their patterns. I see beauty in the food I am about to cook. Nature seems to repeat similar spiral patterns whether in a cucumber, a carrot, or a pattern of veins on a leaf. If you slow down you will begin to notice these things with sheer delight. You can go on a journey of discovery when you slow down and come into the moment.

Why not spend the next 5 minutes coming into your body? Feel your hands, your feet, your breath and your heart beat. Then begin to notice everything around you. Listen to the sounds, look around you and notice texture and detail, let go of judgement. Just notice and sense. Later when you get up, feel your feet standing on the floor, and come back into the sensations of the body.

I hope you enjoy exploring this present moment.

November 2011:

The 11th of November this month is actually 11/11/11.

It will be a full moon.

It is a powerful day for meditation. Meditate on peace, joy and love and feel yourself empowered by these amazing qualities. Whatever intention you set this day will set you up for the year. Some believe it is the Age of Aquarius arriving. Some say a powerful shift for humanity. Either way, meditation is a powerful tool. Love and peace and joy are amazing qualities. I invite you to embrace these qualities.

Namaste.

October 2011:
I am currently reading The Intention Experiment by Lynne McTaggart. Lynne is a journalist who has spent years trying to discover the science behind the power of our thoughts. It is an incredibly interesting read. It points to scientific evidence that we are all interconnected by a universal energy. This connection carries our thoughts and feelings to people around us. It seems that the thoughts we have can resonate throughout other people's bodies.

If this is true, then we must be careful what we think and feel about those around us. If they think something negative about you, or are in a bad mood, you can pick up on it, not in a logical way, but as a negative feeling in your body. Conversely if someone is happy we feel their happiness and can easily share their joy.

I believe we need to learn to forgive others, to let go of judgment, and to always see the good in people. Also seeing good in yourself and letting go of self-judgement. We should all try to see the best in ourselves and others.

How do we do this? Through yoga practise we can peel away the layers of stress. And through meditation we can develop a sense of awareness of our own thoughts. Try making a commitment to see the positive in life. Honour life and have life affirming thoughts.

I hope this helps you find a happier and more meaningful life.

Namaste.
