YOUR FEET AND YOUR BODY STRUCTURE
The Foot is a complex structure made up of 28 bones and held together by soft tissues such as muscles, ligaments and tendons.
Our feet were intended for use on variety of suilaces such as sand and soil not hard concrete pavements and ground coverings.
Because hard surfaces offer no support to the arches of the feet our feet tend to roll inwards causing the arches of the feet to flatten.
This process is known as ‘excessive pronation’.
As our feet, ankles, legs and back try to compensate for the pronation our bones and muscles are thrown out of alignment. As a result of this malalignment, chronic aches and pains may be experienced throughout the body. Aching feet, knees, hips and back and even headaches.
Other symptoms that may be attributable to excessive pronation or deformity of the foot structures include:
- Bunions and Corns
- Heel Spurs
- Weak Muscles
- Tired aching legs
- Knee pain
- Lower back pain
- Neck pain
- Poor posture
In order to properly treat these conditions we must look at the underlying cause not Just the symptoms.
SO HOW DO WE TREAT THE CAUSE OF SUCH CONDITION?
Answer: Restore the body’s natural structures and alignment by correcting excessive pronation. Orthoses are custom-fitted shoe inserts from the podiatrist and work to restore and align the foot’s natural structures. Orthoses allow you to reclaim your body’s overall balance and soft tissue control by eliminating lower limb stresses and upper body compensations.
Orthoses do not only apply to people with serious foot and leg discomfort.
