SERVICES

Welcome to
Peninsula Holistic General Practice

Our doctors truly care about their patient's well-being.

We spend time with our patients so that we can really try to get an understanding of you as a person and your illness. Treatment plans try to address the causes of any symptoms being experienced with the aim of optimising each patient's general health and wellbeing.

We aim to consider the totality of each person's life, their diet, environment and their stresses. Appropriate and individual programs will feature a combination of diet, exercise, stress management, medicines, nutrients and counselling. Acupuncture, hypnotherapy, mindfulness based techniques and pharmaceutical medicines will be used where necessary.

Our doctors are aware that nutrition plays a key role in maintaining optimal health as nutritional excesses and deficiencies are becoming more common and more severe due to changing diets and toxic environments. Most people don't make the connection that this can have significant impact on behaviour and emotional health in both adults and children. Treating these issues, along with managing emotional stress, have profound implications in healing illness.

Some patients have been able to reverse heart disease for example with a combination of a highly nutritious diet, exercise, relaxation training and group support. Chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic anxiety, irritable bowel disease, PMT, menopause, infertility, fibromyalgia, chronic arthritis, autoimmune diseases and diabetes, to name a few, respond remarkably well to a holistic approach. This approach extends to include often life-changing patient support through education and group work in ‘mindfulness’.

An initial one hour appointment at Peninsula Holistic General Practice will involve enquiry into a patient's health and life story. Diet, stresses, symptoms and how these are affecting the patient will all be evaluated and also, if appropriate, how their health is impacted upon by their relationships, work and environment. Tests will be arranged if required and an individually tailored management plan, involving treatment and/or realistic and effective behavioural changes designed and implemented.

Our doctors believe that working closely with patients facilitates their healing processes. They listen, educate and empower their patients to regain health and vitality and a better understanding of themselves as a person. As holistic doctors they have a broad approach that provides benefits in most cases as long as the patient is willing to participate in their own therapy and make any necessary changes in their lives. Eastern and Western, conventional medicine and 'complementary therapies' are blended to provide comprehensive and objective advice offering patients the best of both worlds.

Peninsula Holistic General Practice has a number of allied health professional that work alongside our doctors to bring you the most effective holistic techniques. We all speak the same language so that you get a coherent and integrative approach.
