Welcome to The Pilates Place

At the Pilates Place we can tailor a program that is specific to what your body needs, challenge you and help you to become stronger and healthier. Melanie is an Movement and Lifestyle Coach and can work with you to ensure you have a balance in all areas, including correct nutrition and managing stress.

Conveniently located on Oxford St bus just a 2min walk from Bondi Junction train station, you値l have the benefit of a fully equipped studio which is full of natural light. We pride ourselves on offering a personalised service and have a friendly, relaxed atmosphere amongst clients and instructors. Our instructors are fully certified under the Pilates Alliance, which is the regulatory body for industry standards.

You値l have the option of working in a private session or a very small class of no more than 3 clients per instructor. This ensures that you値l receive the maximum supervision to ultimately achieve results.

We're very excited to be able to offer small Matwork and Yoga classes. We have 3 different level so there's something for everyone.

Pilates

Pilates is a method that is used to train the stabilisers in the body. These are the deepest muscle to support the skeletal system and reduce your risk of injury. Muscle imbalances create poor posture and faulty movement patterns and can lead to all sorts of pain and dysfunction. The beauty of Pilates is that anyone can do it whether you致e never exercised before, are currently in pain/injured, just had surgery, elderly, it can be tailored to suit anyone. Privates, duos and small groups available.

Personal training

You won稚 be just sitting on a bike or walking on a treadmill when you do Personal training with us. You値l be taught corrective exercise with functional movement patterns that use integrated movement. This means they are movement patterns that you use in everyday life. There 7 movement patterns that the body needs to be able to perform correctly and we値l teach you how to do those. This will improve your posture, flexibility, strength and cardiovascular performance.

Vinyasa Yoga

A flowing practice that encompasses simple breath awareness with a sequence of postures. Sun salutes, Standing poses, Balancing poses, Back bends, Forward bends and Relaxation. You値l improve your balance, flexibility, strength, stamina, breath awareness, meditation and pranayama (breathing patterns). Students can modify their practice to suit their level of flexibility and accommodate any limitations.

Workshops

Weekly workshops focusing on the Foundation Principles of Health. You値l be given an understanding how to get these areas more balanced so that you can lead a happy and healthy lifestyle, Easy, practical tips will be given that you can implement immediately.

About Melanie

Melanie established The Pilates Place in 2001 after a career in dance. After returning to Australia from the UK in 1996, she began working as a personal trainer and aerobics instructor throughout Fitness First. Having been a keen participant in Pilates whilst dancing in London, Melanie took the opportunity to study and teach pilates.

Melanie痴 love of movement has allowed her to integrate different styles in her teaching including, pilates, yoga, personal training, and even pole dancing. This broad integration enables Melanie to work with many clients ranging from elite athletes/dancers to grandparents who just want to be able to pick up their grandkids.

Melanie has chosen to adopt a holistic approach integrating lifestyle management with movement.

Philosophy: To live an example of health and happiness and to educate others to find the happiness and love in their lives.

Qualification Details
  • Diploma in Professional Pilates
  • Faculty Member of Pilates International. Lecturer of Certificate IV in Professional Pilates to trainee instructors.
  • Chek Exercise Coach and HLC Level 1(nutrition/lifestyle coaching)
  • Workplace trainer and Assessor
  • Diploma in Dance (Performance)
