Classical Pilates
The Pilates method is a unique system of resistance training, designed to strengthen, elongate and align the body. Pilates emphasises focus, control and co-ordination. The focus of the work is on developing what Joseph Pilates called the “powerhouse” – the abdomen, buttocks, lower back and thighs – as the body’s centre of strength and control.
Many Pilates studios focus solely on injury rehabilitation – indeed Pilates is increasingly being taught by physiotherapists. Workouts are slow and controlled and focused on the area of injury.

Classes & Prices
Classical Pilates Equipment Class
Equipment classes use Pilates equipment manufactured by the same workshop that made Joseph Pilates’ original equipment – Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrels and Wall Unit.
Bookings are essential for equipment classes and they run between 7.30 am and 2pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Duet (two people) $50
Trio (three people) $45
Beginners’ Mat Class 9.30am Saturday; 7.00pm Tuesday
The Beginners’ Mat class is the ideal place to start learning Classical Pilates. This class introduces the basic movement patterns and strengthening exercises needed to take the method to the next level. It also covers a comprehensive range of basic injury rehab exercises so is ideal for those wanting to build basic strength to overcome pain and injury. Mat classes consist of stretches and exercises performed on the floor and on Swiss Balls.
This class runs on a 10 week term. Numbers are limited to eight per class and bookings are essential.
