SERVICES Deciding whether your child is kindergarten ready is an important parenting issue that is more complex than chronological age or simply being able to recite letters, numbers, shapes and colours. Experts say no single or simple factor determines whether a child is ready for kindergarten. Factors such as their social knowledge and competence, emotional maturity, language and thinking abilities and general knowledge and communication skills need to be taken into account..

Recent research by Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth outlined that “The experiences of early childhood have lifelong implications for our ability to become productive, socially adjusted contributors to society. Children who enter school but should have stayed back another year have been to shown to:
• tend to do less well in school
• tend to develop a dislike for learning
• tend to experience difficulties interacting with their peers
• are more likely to have mental health problems
Repeating a child at later stage has also been shown to have negative outcomes for the child.
This makes the decision to begin school a very important one to get right.
A two hour assessment can help you to make informed decisions about your child's school readiness. A comprehensive report will be provided outlining your child’s learning potential, social skills, areas of strengths and areas of development that both teachers and parents can address before your child starts school.
