About Tanya Roesler
Kirby is one of the most sought after naturopaths in Sydney. With over 10 years of experience, since graduating, Tanya’s commitment to natural therapies is infectious. Her passion toward natural health and the belief that the mind and body are intrinsically connected to our health and well being, is reflected in her own healthy life-style and commitment to her craft.
Having started her career in the fitness industry, working as a personal trainer, Tanya felt the need for a more wholistic approach to health and fitness. She graduated from the Perth Academy of Natural Therapies in the late 90’s already having her own Naturopathic Practice in Fremantle, a place well known for it’s healthy lifestyle and residents who rate highly the importance of natural health. She graduated with THE MOST WHOLISTICALLY MINDED STUDENT award from Medicine Tree.
Wanting to expand her experience further, Tanya relocated to Sydney in 2002 with her young family, with the intention of bringing her unique style and experience to Sydney-siders.
For seven years, Tanya was a director of “Core Energetics Australia P/L” involved in organising the workshops, retreats and trainings. During this time she was involved with her own personal development therapies, which cemented her bodymind connection beliefs.
Forever hungry to further her education, whilst Tanya brought up her second baby, she extensively researched mineral supplementation: her belief being that minerals are the foundation to all healthy cellular function and thus increasing the absorption of other supplementation including vitamins, herbs and homoeopathy. Tanya also studied detoxification and anti-aging therapy involving Far InfraRed (FIR) Sauna treatments.
Since settling in Manly, she has quickly built up a reputation in her local and wider community as being the best in the business.
Tanya offers an extensive variety of Natural Therapies including:
- Remedial Massage (including pregnancy massage)
- FIR (Far Infrared) Sauna Treatments for detox and overall health
- Haemaview – Live blood screenings
In addition to her home practice, Tanya also practices remedial massage at Dee Why Therapeutic Centre and conducts the Haemaview sessions at Manly Chiropractic Clinic with her microscope.
Personal question and answers with Tanya…..
Q: Explain your view that we all need a more wholistic approach to health
A: I have always been interested in the mindbody connection and believe that everything we do has a direct effect on our health. In my own life I like to incorporate an approach to health that involves sensible nutrition as well as iridology, yoga, breathing practice and meditation, so that my mind and body are more focussed and ready to take on whatever life throws at me! The more uncontracted the body is… the better one can experience reality because the mind is more open to the vital force flowing through the body.
Q: You do a lot of pre- natal massage.. Can you explain what that involves and is it successful?
A: Pregnancy massage helps prepare the woman for her labour experience. Many women have started their labour within 24 hours of their last pregnant massage which is wonderful. Supplements are recommended and personal experience discussed to prepare the Mum to be.
Q: You’re a parent yourself and you had home waterbirths both times, is that correct?
A: Yes, the first time was in 1990 yet my second son is much younger, he was born in 2001. Two midwives were present both times. Every woman is different yet I believe that natural parenting and long term breastfeeding is a great start to any childs life! It’s an empowering experience to have a natural labour and successfully bond with your baby and I like to share my positive experience of the births of my children with my pregnant clients to help them feel confident if they choose the path of natural birthing and/or parenting.

FIR Sauna Article
As a naturopath of the 21st Century I am always on the lookout for techniques that can best serve my naturopathic clients.
“Most people” dread the word detox; they put it in the too hard basket. It is time consuming and after all, who wants to get sick before their health gets better?
Almost four years ago I discovered the Physiotherm Infrared Sauna whilst strolling through the Living Now Expo, Sydney August 2003. It impacted me immensely! It seemed so inviting for those cold winters day with its warmth, peacefulness, soft light and smell. It was the ultimate sensory experience for me. What could feel so fantastic and be so wonderfully healthy for me at the same time?
All I needed to do was sit, tone and relax. “Keep it simple” has always been my motto! In comparison to fasting, specific diets, vitamin therapy, colon therapy and chelation therapy, hyperthermia was easy! Heat stress detox is also known as hyperthermia (Sauna therapy).
For thousands of years, dating back to the Ancient Tibetans, saunas have been part of the human experience. The most recent development in hyperthermia today is the Far Infrared Sauna (FIR). Being part of the sunlight spectrum, the far infrared (dry heat) induces sweating at a lower temperature than a conventional sauna (moist heat steam). So, especially for the heat-intolerant, it makes it much more comfortable. The FIR wavelength penetrates 1.5 inches below the skin to stimulate fat cells and break the cells ion bond allowing the stored toxins to be released into the sweat and straight out of your body. The FIR sauna is the only method, clinically proven to eliminate some of the most dangerous chemicals from our body including mercury cadmium, lead and aluminium.
FIR sauna benefits:
- Improved circulation which means loss of fatigue because more oxygen gets into your body.
- Reduced blood pressure, reducing the risk of strokes or heart attacks.
- Cardiovascular conditioning (NASA astronauts use it instead of exercising on space flights).
- Pain relief (decrease arthritic pain, sore, stiff joints and muscles)
- Improved healing (immunity) ie sports injuries, wounds
- Aids relaxation so reduces stress levels
- Improves sleep disorders by calming the nervous system
- Improves weight loss, if so desired
- Improves appearance of skin and hair to simply look healthier
Other brands of Infrared Saunas are now on the market; the choices are endless. Unlike conventional saunas, this particular type of heat is a dry heat with no steam. It’s normally used at 35 – 450C and permits normal breathing. The specific wave length of this heat is a form of energy that warms your body directly to increase metabolic rate and improve circulation long after your sauna session has concluded.
Beginning as a complete novice, I have embarked on a journey and I now feel fully qualified to offer advice for anyone else considering profound detoxification. I have experimented and endured many hours at various levels of heat to find a daily routine that best suits me.
In Europe there is one Cancer therapy that involves patients, under anaesthetic, enduring 50 – 600C temperatures for 60 minutes, to reverse their disease process. This intrigued me, and I realised that any disease process is a reversal of an uncontracted energetic field around and through the person’s body. The sauna is therefore expanding every cellular structure in the body. I set about to deepen my process over a period of months. The obvious external symptoms were immediate; hydrated skin that offers an anti – aging affect. The glow is amazing. The increase in blood flow improves stiffness and aches in all the muscles which increases metabolism to burn calories quicker. Over time this increases daily along with the fat burning process of all tissues in the body, one can lose weight (if so desired) or simply tone (if no weight loss is required). I suggest 30 – 40 minutes sauna per day for deep detoxification. My body is more toned with more prominent muscles, due to the fat burning process. Even though I don’t run or do aerobics, I have an athletic body shape. I learned that the cardiovascular workout for over 30 minutes is equivalent to a 10km jog. Some days my tolerance may be low and a 20 minute sauna will suffice. However, if we take the process of detox deeper over a period of months - even years – our bodies will respond with incredible compliance and ease.
Over a period of years, with increased water consumption the body can sweat out toxins and pollution from the environment -- not to mention alcohol, tobacco, prescription medicines and illicit drugs. Nutritional supplementation is a great complement to thermotherapy. When we lose toxins through sweat, we naturally, also lose minerals, vitamins and electrolytes that need to be replaced. Vitamins A C, E and Selenium (a mineral) are antioxidants associated with anti-aging. (Selenium is also found in Brazil nuts). Wheatgrass is also abundant in minerals and vitamins and offers an easy way to replace the good nutrition that is also lost through the sweating process. The FIR is an extremely effective way to detoxify, and is as enjoyable as reading a book in the sun… QUALIFICATION DETAILS- Qualified Naturopath, graduated at Perth academy of natural therapies, 1998.
