SERVICES
“Wellness is our focus”

Under the skillful hands of a highly trained therapist you will experience a truly unique client-focused massage based on the Raynor Technique.

Our massage covers not just the muscles but also the skeletal system and the subtle energy systems of the body. It has evolved through a combination of different styles from around the world that include Therapeutic Massage, Deep Tissue, Acupressure, Ayurvedic, Swedish, Hawaiian, Remedial and Hand and Foot Reflexology.

The benefits of our technique are many and you will have a heightened sense of wellness through increased circulation and a lowering of stress
Our deep tissue massage can increase circulation creating a cleansing effect by bringing nutrients and oxygen to stiff joints and tired muscles. Our technique can also help in healing injuries, releasing tension, speeding up recovery of muscle strains and freeing your body to return to a more natural posture.

Following our assessment consultation our massage therapist can formulate a personalized plan to suit our specific needs.

The Massage

Your first visit will usually take about one and a half to two hours. This session will include establishing a case history and an initial assessment prior to commencing your personalized massage treatment.

Times for subsequent treatments will vary depending on the client’s individual needs.

During the treatment your therapist will be instructing you in breathing techniques that will enhance the benefits of your massage and it is important that you communicate to the therapist any discomfort you are feeling or any concerns that you may have.

There are certain conditions that will prevent us to treat you. They are:

·Nausea
·Cancer
·After recent surgery, whiplash or other serious injury (wait up to 3 months post injury/surgery)
·Fever or high temperature
·Cold or flu – massage can make it worse in the short term
·After recent alcohol intake –preferably no alcohol 24 hours or at least 12 hours prior to your massage treatment. In the case of heavy alcohol intake, please allow 48 hours to lapse before your next treatment

“ The journey to wellness cannot be measured or constrained by time.”<

The time it takes to achieve a significant release of tension will determine the length of your massage. Although the time will seem to pass quickly it can take up to three hours to reach the level of tension release that we strive for. Knowing that we are dealing with stress and tension that may have built up over many years one can understand that it could take several treatments to bring this tension to the surface and release it. The Raynor technique is not just a massage, it is a significant full body treatment aimed at restoring balance and wellness in your body. Our prices are structured to be affordable and considering the many benefits that the Raynor massage technique can offer, they represent fantastic value

Raynor Massage

Raynor Massage is a system of bodywork developed by Australian trained Naturopath, Brandon Raynor. It covers not just the muscle, but also the skeletal system and the subtle energy systems of the body.

Raynor Massage is not performed as a routine although we do have particular techniques, stretches and adjustments that we have developed. Instead, the goal of Raynor Massage is to find any residual tension or blockage in the body and get rid of it. Whatever technique we plan to use, we must always evaluate it against this goal. "Is the move that I am now performing helping to get rid of this person's tension or not?" is a question that should always be asked. Residual tension is the tension that is in the person's body when resting, for example, on a massage table.

In other words, if a person has muscle tightness in an area when they are not using that area, we call this residual tension. Our goal is to get rid of this tension.

Another important concept of Raynor Massage is that the source of some of the residual tension in the body can be from emotional or stress related causes. We believe in the well accepted Eastern medical theories that the physical body is a gross manifestation of a subtle body composed of life force and emotions and other subtle energies. We refer to this life force as chi or prana. A blockage or disruption in the flow of chi or prana will cause an area of the physical body to become tight, blocked or forced out of position in the case of the skeletal system.

We also believe that the body is one holistic organism and that dealing with one part in isolation is not as effective as dealing with the whole person. So, in this way we recognise that one part of the body may be tight but that area is being held tight by another area which could then also be held tight by another area again. We also recognise that the subtle body of emotions and the gross physical body are related and so we see that some tension may not be gotten rid of in the body unless the corresponding emotion is also released. In this way we work holistically not just with our massage techniques but also with our rhythms and encouragement to our clients to breathe deeply into their bellies during the treatment and to allow any emotions out that need to come out, and to not hold them back.

Raynor Massage has some of its origins in Eastern forms of massage like Shiatsu, Ayurvedic massage, eastern chiropractic work, Lomi Lomi and yoga breath work. However, we have integrated and evolved these techniques to fit in with our simple philosophy of locating every bit of tension in the body and releasing it.

We have emphasised certain extremely important parts of the body that are often neglected by traditional massage therapists, such as the abdomen, the sacrum, the hip, the feet, hands and head. These areas tend to hold a lot of stagnation and blockage of the life force, and freeing them up will generally have a great benefit not just to the areas concerned, but to the whole being.

Raynor massage is generally recognised as one of the most powerful and effective forms of massage therapy today. It goes well beyond the realm of what most people consider to be the confines of a massage treatment.
Although Raynor Massage uses knowledge gained from Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, Reflexology and Hawaiian medicine amongst others, we don't let one particular philosophy dictate how we should treat. We learn their techniques but then we rely on our own senses to diagnose a situation and the client's condition and needs.
Raynor Massage recognises the importance of the healing crisis, which we will discuss later, and always emphasises not just that a massage should feel good, but that a massage is therapeutically effective in getting rid of tension.

In fact, for some people, good massage may be very uncomfortable if they aren't used to it. As their healing crisis finishes however, their body should feel a lot better, have more mobility, and a general feeling of being more relaxed should ensue. The word "relax" actually means to bring back to a state of looseness. "Re" means to bring back to, and "lax" means loose. So Raynor massage is actually a form of deep relaxation massage."
