KS Remedial Massage Services

Welcome to KS Remedial Massage Services

Massage Services Available:

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage involves the application of soothing relaxing techniques such as kneading and long gliding strokes to sooth tired aching muscles. Relaxation massage is beneficial in calming the mind and body during periods of prolonged stress, as well as maintain wellbeing or simply to unwind. Relaxation massage is recommended for those who have never had a massage before.

Heavenly Indulgence

The Heavenly Indulgence massage combines therapeutic techniques with aromatic oils, balms and creams to enhance your relaxation pleasure and to soothe your mind, body and soul.
During this 90 minute full body massage, you will also be treated to a mini-facial combining shiatsu acupressure points and a gentle facial massage which will help to alleviate headaches from stress and tension as well as relief from sinus congestion. At the end of this wonderful relaxing treatment, you will be gently wiped down with hot towels to remove the excess oils from your body.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage uses techniques that manipulate muscle tissue to assist in your recovery and rehabilitation after surgery, as well as including work related and motor vehicle injuries.

Myofascial Stretch Release

Myofascial release is a gentle stretching technique that assists in the release of constricted fascial tissue which surrounds the muscular and skeletal structure. Myofascial release is particularly beneficial in the treatment of whiplash injuries, headaches and rotator cuff injuries (shoulder).

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a technique which involves the application of direct pressure to hypersensitive areas within the muscle tissue, ligaments or fascia. When the trigger point is palpated, there may be local tenderness felt or it may cause referred pain. Trigger points not treated can cause chronic pain as well as weakening and shortening of the muscle and headaches.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is mainly used to assist in the management and prevention of injuries before, during and after training periods. It assists athletes to keep their muscles supple and pliable and reduce the occurrence of injuries. This is a very popular treatment amongst amateur and elite athletes including Cyclists, Triathletes and Runners.

Post Surgical Intervention Massage Therapy

Post Surgical Intervention Massage Therapy is a medical treatment used to treat post operative conditions and to reduce scare tissue formation. As surgery can be a traumatic process for some, it is important that Post Surgical Intervention massage therapy has a holistic approach which will assist in your recovery. This type of massage therapy can benefit your healing process after all surgical procedures, the most common of which are Knee, Hip, Shoulder and Abdominal surgery.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy massage consists of the use of aromatic oils which are specifically blended for relieving stress and other conditions. This therapy, coupled with specific massage techniques assist in improving your physical and emotional health and wellbeing.

Chinese Cupping Therapy

Chinese Cupping is a specialized treatment which forms part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and can be used to complement other massage treatments. A flame is used to create a vacuum inside specialized glass cups which are placed on areas of the body to draw up underlying tissue. The suction effect causes local blood pooling in a generalized area to break down adhesive tissue and help remove toxins. Bruising can appear after the cupping treatment; this is normal, especially where there is congestion and stagnation in the muscle tissue.

Corporate Seated Massage

Corporate seated massage is used in workplace situations or specialized events to improve workplace morale as well as reducing stress and increasing productivity. During the massage, you will be fully clothed and seated, as no massage oil is required. Each session takes between 5 to 20 minutes. Areas that commonly massaged are the neck, back, shoulders and arms.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage is beneficial for the treatment of, lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, leg cramps and headaches. Pregnancy massage is a therapy which can be incorporated into your birth plan.
Pregnancy massage is preferably performed while you are lying on your side. However, if you feel more comfortable lying on your stomach we have specialized pregnancy pillows for your added comfort.

Postpartum massage is very beneficial after the birthing process as it can assist in the recovery process, as well as reducing excesses fluid. Postpartum massage is also beneficial for treating muscular aches and pains which can be associated with breast feeding and holding your new baby. It can also help with stress and anxiety associated with Post Natal Depression.

To ensure that your massage experience is safe for you and your baby it is recommended you consult your local GP or Obstetrician, prior to treatment. This will ensure your therapists is aware of any medical conditions that need to be taken into consideration before your massage treatment.

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot Stone Therapy is a type of massage technique which involves the application of hot stones and has been around for centuries in many cultures, including Ancient Egyptian, Native American and Pacific Islanders. Each culture had their own special way of using hot stone therapy and has evolved over the years so that it can be used in main stream medical clinics and day spas.

Basalt is a mineral which is recommended for Hot Stone therapy and is a type of volcanic stone. They are smoothly sculptured in a way so that they can be used for various massage therapy techniques. The basalt stones are high in iron and magnesium allowing them to sustain heat for a longer period of time. The specific benefits of hot stone therapy allow the blood vessels to dilate, which increases oxygen and nutrients to the muscular/skeletal system. The thermal heat has an indirect effect on the muscles organs and nervous system giving the whole body and mind a deeply relaxing experience.

What to expect

Upon arrival, you will be asked to fill out a patient information form. This information is used to assess what treatment will be best suited to you. Please advise your therapist if there are any medical conditions that need to be taken into consideration prior to your massage.

Your therapist will leave the room, while you get undressed, and will re- enter the room when you are ready. A towel is provided for you to drape over yourself as you will be asked to lay face down on the massage table. To create a more relaxing ambience, the lighting will be dimmed and relaxation music, to calm the mind and body, will be played softly in the background. Aromatic oils, creams and balms will be used for your massage experience, so please let the therapist know if you have any allergies.

At the end of your massage, you will be provided with a hot towel to refresh yourself or wipe down any excess oil. This is ideal if you are returning to work after your massage. The therapist will leave the room, giving you privacy to dress.

Some home exercises may be suggested and you will be advised if a follow up appointment is necessary. It is also recommended you drink plenty of water after your massage treatment to allow any toxins to pass through the lymphatic system and assist the cleansing process.
