TCM for Fertility
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) provides a healthier and a more holistic method of fertility enhancement.
TCM adopts a principle of holism and views the whole body. It assesses any imbalances which may make conception challenging, rather than labelling diseases (e.g. PCOS, DM, hyperthyroidism etc.)
TCM recognises the pattern of disease which manifests certain groups of signs and symptoms. The diagnosis is made by putting together the information gathered from pulse quality, the appearance of the tongue and skin etc., and the collection of symptoms.
Unlike western medicine, TCM may give different treatment even for the same PCOS patients because their patterns may be different. Therefore we prescribe a unique herb formula and an acupuncture protocol for a specific person as hardly anyone has the same patterns.
In the TCM view there is actually no such thing as “infertility” but it is just one of many types of disharmonies in your body.
Nowadays many couples go with Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) such as IUI or IVF and it helps them if they have structural problems in their reproductive system.
I respect your decision whether you choose Western medicine or the natural way to reach your goal.
However, many couples labelled with ‘unexplained infertility’ experience further difficulty during IVF procedures and they have to deal with the consequences even after the procedures as the chemicals used within IVF cycle deepen the disharmony in their bodies.
I advise the couples who experienced failure of IVF procedures to see a TCM practitioner and have acupuncture and herbal treatment (before you go with another cycle if you choose). It clears up all the chemical residues, rebalance your hormonal system so you can regain the body’s natural functions.
Treatment frequency and duration
I advise you to have at least three months of acupuncture and herbal treatment if you have any fertility issue or between IVF cycles. It is best to have weekly treatment for the first two months or so (it may depend on the individual) then can continue to have fortnightly or less frequent acupuncture treatment while you keep taking herbs onwards.
Then you may feel the difference of your body e.g. more regular cycle, less PMS, fertile mucous, more energy, steady BBT chart, better skin ect..

Acupuncture for Labour and Delivery
How do you feel when you think about your upcoming labour and delivery?
While the result of it will be meeting your precious daughter or son, the process can also be quite fearful and overwhelming.
I'm offering a special course of treatment to help and support your labor and delivery.
A series of treatments for one or two months before your due date can help restore the energy for all parts of the process; delivery, recovery and especially nurturing your new born baby.
It also shortens the length of labour and decreases the intensity of pain by relaxing muscles, softening the cervix and increasing the blood flow to the uterus, strengthening the uterus and the baby, and relieving tension and stress (T. Harper et al, Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine. 19(8):465-70, 2006 Aug).
acupuncture can also help :
- Babies in abnormal positions; breech presentation (Dr I. Neri et al, The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine vol 15, Issue 4 April 2004 , pp 247 - 252)
- Induce labour without drugs
