Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine has been around for thousands of years and has been used to help with a wide range of health challenges. Herbal medicine uses parts of a plant or in some cases the whole plant to extract the active constituents or phytochemicals, which work synergistically to achieve the desired medicinal effect. Herbal medicine comes in different forms including liquids (tinctures), tablets, capsules, creams and ointments or even as a tea.

Herbs can be quite powerful so it is very important that you seek the guidance of a qualified herbal medicine practitioner.

Nutrition

You've heard the saying "you are what you eat". The quality of food that you consume as well as your dietary patterns and habits contribute to the state of health you enjoy. A good quality diet can help you maintain or regain good health and whilst food can be used as medicine, sometimes nutritional supplements are required to restore your body to optimum health.

About Robert Provino

Robert originally qualified as a chartered accountant and certified practising accountant after leaving school but increasingly found himself fascinated with natural medicine and then one day realised he wasn't living his true purpose in life.

He decided to embark on a career change and not long after commencing naturopathic studies became seriously ill with symptoms such as double vision, transient paralysis, unsteady gait, fatigue, difficulty swallowing and slurred speech. Robert was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in January 2003 and immediately embarked on a range of holistic therapies to help him manage the disease. He recovered well and resumed his studies and has now been in remission and enjoying good health for over 8 years. He is currently writing a book on his experience to help others.

Robert keeps up to date professionally and has had articles published in the Australian Journal of Medical Herbalism. In his spare time he enjoys practising tai chi, meditation and going for walks in nature.
