One of the primary ways of using Aromatherapy is through touch, which gives the receiver the double effects of therapeutic grade essential oils along with the relaxing and pain relieving benefits of massage – nourishing the skin, increasing blood and lymph flow, moving waste products from the tissues, and releasing tension from the muscles and other soft tissues. Meanwhile aromas are released that help balance ones state of mind through the olfactory systems’ connection to the brain, relieving stress and anxiety. Your response to a particular oil that is carefully chosen especially for you, might range from a feeling of liveliness to a deep sense of calm. A wonderfully calming and nurturing experience!!
Remedial Massage
Accidents, repetitive actions and everyday stresses can cause problems that sometimes seem to take up permanent residence in our bodies. If tension, pain or restricted movement keep you from living the life you want, remedial massage can help eliminate it. Research shows that massage decreases muscle tension, increases circulation and calms your nervous system. The result is a cascade of physical and mental benefits that can alleviate a wide variety of conditions.
During a treatment, I call on a variety of techniques, such as Acupressure and Trigger Point Therapy to gain the best result possible for you.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on re- aligning the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, lower back tightness, and sore shoulders. The movements are slower and deeper than classic massage therapy and the pressure is concentrated on areas of tension and pain.
When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions ( bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles , tendons and ligaments.
Adhesions block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation.
Deep Tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement.
Will it hurt?
At certain points during the massage, most people find there is a certain amount of discomfort, but this is never taken to the point of being unbearable. It should “hurt good” as most of my clients describe it. Deep tissue can be, and is relaxing as the deep tensions held within the body are released. You may be asked to breathe deeply as I work on certain tense areas, with great sensitivity to your comfort at all times.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage combines the benefits of hydrotherapy and thermotherapy with the strokes of massage using stones, to create a deep, relaxing and healing treatment. The heat of the stones warms the skin and muscles, softening them so that I can work on the deeper layers. Local circulation will be increased, therefore a greater ability to transfer toxins and waste products from the area.
During a treatment, I will lay hot basalt stones on specific areas of your body, and the chakra or energy centres, sometimes with crystals, whist massaging you with oils and hot stones, one section at a time. The heat and “ grounding “ sensation of the stones on the chakras will balance and strengthen them, reconnecting the body and improve energy flow.
This is the type of massage to choose if you need a deeply comforting and nurturing experience. This can be done in an hour, but a 90 min treatment will allow for more time to let the relaxation process unfold.
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic Drainage massage is a light touch massage that enhances the function of the lymphatic system (our body’s filtering system) Lymph fluid is rich in white blood cells that fight viruses , infections and bacteria. Every 24 hrs, about 6-7 litres of fluid is circulated around the body via an elaborate system of lymph vessels. Lymph carries the body’s wastes to the lymph nodes where detoxification can occur. The swollen “glands” that you feel in your neck when you are coming down with a virus are actually lymph nodes working overtime to free the body of waste products.
When the lymphatic system is not performing efficiently due to stress or illness, or when there is an accumulation of fluid from infection, blockages, or damage to the lymph vessels, lymphatic massage can aid recovery and enhance lymphatic function. Swelling, congestion and puffiness can be reduced, the immune system is enhanced therefore assisting in recovery from illness.
The gentle touch of this massage soothes and calms the nervous system, allowing for improved sleep. This can alleviate depression, fatigue and anxiety and other effects of stress.
I use quality therapeutic grade essential oils that have a cleansing and stimulating effects on the lymphatic system, chosen by me to suit you individual needs.
Reflexology
We have over 7000 nerve endings on the soles of our feet!!. This makes them quite sensitive – and responsive to the sensory input of reflexology. If you are stressed, overworked, or injured, reflexology can send a calm and intentional message to the nervous system through the skilled touch to the feet.
Reflexology promotes the body’s marvelous ability to adjust and balance during times of stress. It can also improve the circulation and oxygen to muscles, tissues and organs, speeding up the elimination of waste products such as stress hormones and lactic acid, enhancing immune function, skin tone and decreases healing time from injuries.
There is no need to disrobe for a reflexology treatment, all you have to do is lay on my massage table, inhale the scent of essential oils, relax to some soothing music and drift away!

Seaweed Body Wrap

This is a 90 minute treatment that totally pampers and relaxes the body.
The seaweed I use is a concentrated freeze-dried seaweed product that contains minerals and vitamins that are infused into the skin using the warmth of a heated massage table. The seaweed is made into a warm past and applied to the entire body. You are then wrapped in warm blankets and tucked up snuggly while your body takes in the seaweed’s goodness. In the meantime, you are receiving a sensational facial and scalp massage. Then you are left for a while so that you can soak up the relaxation and drift away to relaxing music.
You will then shower, and return to me refreshed, to experience a fragrant, detoxifying massage, using oils such as lemongrass, lemon, or fennel, leaving your skin feeling soft, nourished and protected. Pure bliss!
