The scientific evidence continues to mount on the efficacy of acupuncture on a myriad of complaints. There is no need to tell the Chinese who have been practising and refining Acupuncture for over 2000 years. In China today Traditional Chinese Medicine is on a par with modern Western medicine and the Chinese people choose which type of treatment they want for their various ailments.
The theory of acupuncture is that the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body stimulates the flow of qi or energy. The points occur on meridians or channels that flow through the body and connect to the vital organs. A skilled acupuncturist can diagnose subtle imbalances within the organ system and take action to re-balance it.
Scott is an experienced and sensitive acupuncturist who works intuitively to help your vital energy or qi to flow freely allowing healing to occur. He has many years experience lecturing in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at various colleges in Melbourne.
Acupuncture has been shown to be successful in helping a wide range of conditions including:
Chronic back pain and injuries
Neck and shoulder problems
Headaches and migraines
Depression and emotional problems
Nervous disorders and anxiety
Stress and fatigue
Infertility and IVF assistance
Memory and concentration difficulties
Cold and flu
Sinusitis and hayfever
Constipation and diarrhoea
Skin and hair problems
Chronic fatigue syndrome
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, light touch technique used to release pain, tension and restrictions in the body. The focus of the work is on the craniosacral system which includes the bones of the face, skull, spine and sacrum as well the fluid and membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. The practitioner can work on the craniosacral system through your clothing on any part of the body.
The practitioner tunes into the subtle rhythms and movements of the body and allows the body to unwind and "tell it's story". Craniosacral therapy has been descibed as psychotherapy for the body. It is ideal for releasing past trauma and freeing up the mental, emotional and physical restrictions caused by such trauma.
Although everyone experiences craniosacral therapy differently it is usually a very relaxing experience. It is very gentle and extremely effective. People often report a strong sense of wellbeing after a session.
Craniosacral therapy can be used in a range of disorders including:
Migraines and Headache
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Stress and tension
Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
Central Nervous System Disorders
Scott has trained extensively in craniosacral therapy and has assisted in the teaching of craniosacral therapy to other practitioners.
Flower essences are remedies that are used to treat imbalances in mental and emotional states. They are a simple and effective way to help re-balance the mind.
Flower essences can play a vital role in a treatment plan. It is important in any holistic approach to aid the individual's mental and emotional balance. There are flower essences for the different ways people can become mentally, emotionally and physically stressed. The following list gives some examples of how flower essences can be used:
Fear and Anxiety.
Over-activity of the mind. Obsessiveness. Insomnia.
Low self esteem and confidence.
Anger and resentment.
Grief and sadness.
Nervousness in public speaking.
Vagueness and inability to concentrate.
Scott mainly uses essences made from native Australian flowers. The remedies are in the form of drops taken under the tongue usually once or twice a day.
Please note: Flower essences are not essential oils which have a strong aroma and are often mixed into massage oils.
