SERVICES
Welcome to She Births

A birth course for everyone that is informing and enriching.

She Births is a short yet highly effective course that prepares women and couples mentally, physically and emotionally for birth and early parenthood. We also run refresher courses for those who are already parents.

Created by Nadine Richardson, childbirth educator, senior doula, yoga teacher and mother.

She Births provides you with a comprehensive understanding of how the body is designed to give birth and helps you relax and enjoy the journey.

The She Births course gives you the opportunity to approach pregnancy, birth and parenthood calmly and joyously and with the support of a positive, like-minded community.

What Is She Births?

The She Births course supports you in creating a safe and natural passage for your baby and a calm and positive experience for mum and her partner.

The key to having a fulfilling birth experience is a good education and simple preparation.

Throughout She Births you will learn that the skills for birth are inner resources within everyone of us. These skills can be adopted easily into your life and utilised to dispel anxieties or tension during pregnancy.

She Births shows you how to access your inner resources and work with the support systems available to you within your chosen birthing environment.

She Births gives you knowledge and insight into:
  • the stages of labour and ways that partners can support
  • how the body, mind and emotions create our experiences
  • dietary suggestions and massage techniques specific for reducing the length of labour
  • the simple practice of deep relaxation
  • easy ways to breathe, move and visualise during labour
  • breastfeeding and conscious parenting

She Births gives you the confidence you need to be active, calm and focused for birth.

"She Births was much more comprehensive than the hospital prenatal classes. The massage techniques with the partners were beautiful and it made it feel like more of a spiritual experience than just a physical one...A loving experience rather than a fearful experience and one which we can embrace with joy rather than feel helpless or inadequate about."
Celeste & Andrew

About Nadine Richardson

Nadine Richardson is a childbirth educator, senior doula, yoga teacher and mother. She comes from a family of doctors, specialists and educators. The success of She Births comes from her professionalism and many years of working with the body/mind, teaching relaxation and attending numerous births. She holds the following qualifications:
  • BA Comm (UTS)
  • Yoga teacher (IICT)
  • Senior Doula (ADC)
  • Childbirth & Early Parenting Educator (ADC)
  • Civil Marriage Celebrant (A14283)

Nadine began working as a birth educator in 2008 after studying both active birth (ADC) and calmbirth (Peter Jackson). With a desire to connect women to a positive experience of childbirth that has lasting benefits for mother and baby she created She Births. There have been two opposing approaches within the birthing industry for a long time. She realised that women needed to be guided in both their mind and body so that they were able to choose their own methods in the moment of birth and enter into their experience completely informed and empowered.

She has been a member of the committee for Australia’s Natural Birth Conference and is a regular guest speaker with the UNSW medical students in third year obstetrics training.

Nadine has facilitated retreats, conferences and workshops over the last fifteen years. A natural facilitator and speaker. She is also a civil marriage celebrant, a flow-on from her involvement and high regard held for her within her local community and is widely respected for her developments in prenatal yoga at Australia’s prominent Dharma Shala Yoga School, Bondi Beach.

Nadine is continually staying abreast of current developments in the birthing world by attending conferences and workshops and has been inspired by the work of fellow birth experts: Dr Sarah Buckley (Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering), Shiela Kitzinger (numerous books) and Dr Gowri Motha (The Gentle Birth Method).

She is the Director of She Lives, a culmination of her experience and passion
    • She Yoga - a dynamic pre-natal yoga practice
    • She Births - a wholistic childbirth education and parenting course
    • She Celebrates - convening events such as weddings and namings ceremonies
