My name is Ian and I provide therapeutic and relaxation massage. I became a massage therapist with the sole intention of treating every client the same way I want to be treated, with respect, courtesy, skill and have my stress and pain reduced. Apart from the obvious enjoyment most people get from a relaxation massage many people only take the time out to have a massage when they are on holidays and it becomes part of their holiday experience. Regular massage will improve your general health and well being and make you feel great. Why not consider having a massage first rather than last. If your stressed either a relaxation massage or a lymphatic drainage massage would be a great way to de-stress and help rid your body of excess toxins.

History of Massage

Massage has been around in recorded history for thousands of years from as far back as 15000BC and it has appeared in many cultures around the world from China to India and Egypt. The ancient Greeks also believed in massage and Hippocrates is seen as the father of Medicine. The opening of trade routes saw massage spread to many more countries and cultures but it wasn’t until the 19 th century that Per Henrik developed “Swedish” exercise which is now known as Swedish massage.

Benefits of Massage

One of the many benefits of massage is improving the circulation systems of the body. The pumping of blood through the body is done in two distinct ways. Oxygenated blood is pumped by the heart but once the cellular exchange has taken place in the capilliaries the blood is returned to the heart through the veins by the constriction of skeletal muscles throughout the body. In addition the muscles also pump the lymph through the lymphatic system which is the core of our immunity system plus the endocrine (hormones) system is also intertwined with the lymphatic system.

The body has an innate ability to repair itself given the right conditions and massage assists the many body systems to function optimally.

Chair / Corporate Massage

If you are wanting a short treatment fully clothed to your neck and shoulders we use an appropriate massage chair to ensure you have the correct support for the neck, head and spine. Many people suffer with neck and back pain and the last thing you want to additional pain through not having your upper body correctly supported. In our view treating the neck without adequate support is dangerous?

Should Massage Hurt

Massage should not hurt you. At times there may be some short term discomfort when an area of soreness is located or being worked on but the therapist should adjust their techniques to ensure that massage is not a painful experience. Naturally where injuries are present the therapist should determine whether or not it is appropriate to massage a particular area. For example an inflamed area may be painful to touch and massage may not be a good option but in other situations massage may be beneficial.

Sheer Indulgence

Image the hot volcanic rocks being immersed into the warm organic coconut oil and then the smooth gliding of the remedial stones gently massaging you from head to toe only ceasing temporarily to place the hot stones on your back, your legs, between your toes, on your tummy and on your forehead. The best 70 minutes you could spend unless of course your spending 90 minutes.
