Bowen therapy
The late Tom Bowen from Geelong in Australia was the originator of Bowen therapy. He devoted his life to developing this wonderful technique that is now practiced throughout the world. Over the past 50 years Bowen Therapy has achieved remarkable results in providing lasting pain relief.
Bowen therapy is very effective and simple. It consists of small gentle moves each at a specific site on your body that crosses over your Fascia and a muscle ligament or tendon. When you release the tension in your Fascia it will improve your mobility, increase your energy, improve your circulation and relax you.
Bowen therapy is non-intrusive and your treatment is done through loose clothing.
Bowen Therapy for horses and all pets
Bowen therapy for your horse is very effective. When you experience a treatment for yourself you won’t want your best friend to miss out on one either, because after all, he/she does give you an immeasurable amount of love and loyalty so it may be time to repay the favour. If your horse is getting grumpy when you do simple things like putting on the saddle, not being flexible on one side, refusing jumps or bucking you off, then it may be time to call me and book that Bowen treatment. Your horse will become more relaxed and happy after his/her treatment and will love you for it.
All pets can benefit from Bowen therapy; ducks with sore wings, kangaroos in rehabilitation, Jersey cows having problems walking, farm dogs that work hard and often injure themselves jumping over fences, your family pet dog or cat that is limping because they have been running and doing bog laps around your lovely back garden which now resembles a disaster area. Schuessler Minerals and how I can assess you or your pet’s mineral deficiencies
More than 130 years ago Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler from Oldenburg in Germany established that there are 12 essential mineral salt combinations in our body. You need them all in the right balance to keep your body healthy and your mind mentally fit. If you do things like not eat well, work too hard, stress and worry about things, drink too much coffee, sit in front of a computer all day suffered a major injury, or don’t sleep enough, it can easily deplete you of these essential minerals and the result is you will experience some of the symptoms listed above.

If you are unable to get to my clinic I can send you some information to fill out and send back to me. Please supply 2 good quality photos of your face; one front on and one side on at about a 45 degree angle so I can see the inner corner of your eye and your ear in the same photo and one photo of your tongue. The more thorough your history is described the more effectively I can treat you. Reiki
A Reiki treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you while you are laying relaxed or sitting if you wish. Reiki treats your body, emotions, mind and spirit creating feelings of inner peace, security and wellbeing. Most of my people and animal clients just love Reiki….the horses and dogs nearly fall asleep and the people get very relaxed and don’t want to leave. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy.". I can include 10 minutes of Reiki for FREE at the end of your Bowen treatment or if you prefer you can have a full session of just Reiki.
Flower Essences
Flower essences are powerful catalysts for helping people and animals to help themselves. They allow you to have a better understanding of your own life plan and purpose. They give you the courage and confidence to follow that plan. If you have experienced trauma in the past or currently are ill and feel like there is no light at the end of the tunnel, then may be this is worth considering. A happier and healthier mind state will help your physical body heal much quicker and put you back on the right path. Animals also respond very quickly to flower essences, whether it be for trauma from an accident, loss of a friend, aggression or timidity plus many more. Sue Jacobsen has been treating my horses with Bowen Therapy for several years now. She has helped me enormously by getting to the root of the problem with my 23yr Arab's consistently tender back. He is now completely recovered and only needs treatment very occasionally. My 9yr Arab gelding's health was an ongoing problem. He suffered terribly from fly bites, coming out in very large lumps. He had bald patches on his coat and was lethargic and overweight, even though I fed him very little. After a thorough investigation, Sue put him on a selection of Minerals, within a month I saw a difference. Three months down the track, he is more energetic, has slimmed down, and bald patches have gone. Until the flies appear I won't know if he is less prone to being bitten, but without doubt his body is now functioning far better and I am hoping it will be able to cope with the onslaught of flies in the spring. Sue has a wonderful way with animals. Horses, line up for treatment, followed by a hopeful dog and chickens! Oh yes, she is good for humans too.. Our horses had always been barefoot and on sandy ground, we had decided to move and the ground in this area was very hard with rocks and stones. I decided to keep the horses barefoot and to help them through this transition have regular Bowen therapy. Treatments kept any soreness to a minimum and happy horses queued for their turn. You couldn’t get a better testimony then that. During this time one mare was also treated with Schuessler Salts, she was prone to being itchy and not very forward moving, but also had bad flatulence. The results within a couple of weeks were nothing but amazing, more energy, and less gas. It took a little longer but also the scratching subsided and her lovely thick tail is regrowing. I noticed a slight change in shape had also taken place. With this our other young mare that had also gone through stomach problems and had shown signs of EPSM was successfully treated and her oil intake reduced considerably. In August 2009 I found myself suffering from random and quite severe itching (red and lumps, which would later disappear!). I just put up with it for 2 months and then on talking to the chemist was told it was an allergic reaction. Taking 24 hour antihistamines stopped it but I didn’t want to do that forever so I went to the doctor a few weeks later to find out what I was allergic to. I was told it was probably dust or pollen and therefore not solvable, so to just keep taking the antihistamines. Not being happy with that, I thought of asking Sue whether Bowen Therapy was used for that type of problem…as I saw how much good it did husband Steve after his car accident. Sue told me about Schuessler salts so I went for a consultation (and frankly I was in the category if “not convinced but where’s the harm”). I had an hour or so of detailed questioning about all kinds of aspects of my wellbeing, some of it rather spooky in terms of Sue starting to predict some answers once she had a certain amount of info. I was given a schedule of salts to take and for once in my life I was diligent about taking what was recommended, and in drinking lots of water as instructed. I found that aspects of how I felt that I had just accepted as the way I was from when I was a kid – I didn’t even see these as solvable- such as having great trouble waking up and feeling sluggish and sick from when I first got up in the morning - started to improve within 2 weeks. I had increased energy levels, my skin improved. The itching took about 2 and a half months to go…it got worse for about a week at about2 months and then went away completely. It has not returned - its been gone 6 months now and I have been on reduced salts for the past 3. Of all the things picked up in my consultation, the only one remaining is a tick in my left eye which still comes back now and then, but that is reduced and I now believe it will also go in time. So – really it is amazing, my opinion is that while there are no miracle cures for disease or injury, these salts directly assisted my body in dealing with ‘the world!’ and basically in being able to work properly and look after itself as it was designed! Big fan – for heaven’s sake try it and give it a good go…it takes time.

I had a car accident which saw me with multiple fractures to my pelvis and various bones. After 3 months in hospital and follow-on physiotherapy I still found myself sore, limping and stiff. My wife mentioned an article she had read in an airline magazine about Bowen Therapy. That article was about helping horses, and she had found it (and the accompanying pictures) quite amazing, because as she said, “you can’t trick a horse!” Having been assured it was not for horses only, we searched the internet for a Bowen Therapy practitioner and found Sue was only down the road. Over a period of about 12 months I had many treatments but found very quickly that I was less sore and more mobile (although I was very sore after the sessions to begin with and also slept heavily afterwards). My hips were not straight and they straightened out – and I am sure this assisted me in being less sore as walking with legs of different lengths really mucks up your other muscles. I didn’t believe it was going to work at all but it did. It’s also very relaxing.

My name is Katy and I own a 13 year old Arab gelding called Saddiq. I have owned him for 5 years and Sue has been working her magic on him for the last 4 years. I ride bitless and treeless but the terrain we cover can be rough and it's hard on backs and hips. Saddiq is extremely wary of strangers. It's taken 3 years for the current agistment owners just to get his rug off, and a fly veil on. When Sue first began working on Saddiq he held his breath and stood like a stone. However, with time he has become more and more relaxed. I've even seen him "ask" her to get back to work during a pause, and the last time she was out he gently examined her face and hair with his lips, and she let him!! I have never seen him do this with anyone, except me. I am lucky in that Saddiq does not have any major issues. I get Sue out to work her magic every 6 months, more as a preventative measure than a necessity. However, the last two visits were because he was sore (mucking around in the paddock on a wet and slippery day). Sue came out the day after I called her, and must have worked on him for almost two hours. She works gently and slowly allowing him time to recover after each session. Working methodically from side to side, always moving quietly around him, and keeping her energy levels low and calm. Sue has also shown me exercises I can safely do with Saddiq in between her visits to help with his top line and muscle tone. On her last visit we sat down afterwards and discussed both my and Saddiq's character, health and well being. Sue is the local representative for Dr Schuessler Biochemic Therapy for Mineral Salts. Sue prescribed various different minerals that both of us appear to be lacking and I must say I have felt so much better after just a few days. I cannot speak for Saddiq yet, but I am sure I will notice a difference after the first full week of his taking them. She did not take any chances with me as I have some issues with iron intake and kindly posted the balance of my tablets to me after consultation with the company head office. The next time I get Sue out it will be to work on Saddiq first, and then to have a look at my shoulder and arm which was dislocated and broken in various places 5 years ago. We got Baxter and Holly from a local Vet clinic. Baxter was in a small enclosure with about 8 other puppies and Holly was tucked away out the back. We noticed the first week we had them that something was not right with them. Baxter had constant diarrhea and wasn’t a happy puppy at all. One day we came home to blood all in there bedroom. I was sold a dying puppy. I have no doubt in my mind that he would of died if we had not taken him to the vets. Things from then on just went bad. The puppies had both been on treatment for about a month when I spoke to my Partners Mum Petra, about Sue. I told Petra what the puppies where taking to help them and within a day or two Sue had given us some Minerals. I will be honest I am not normally a believer in Natural remedies and after everything we had been through with the treatment not working and being let down I was not expecting anything to work.

Arli had been through a period of change in his environment and for a horse that’s not good with change at the best of times, was emotionally frazzled and was physically very tight. Sue recommended a course of minerals to help him through his rehab. Within a week there were very noticeable physical changes – his coat changed colour and texture – and his emotions began to stabilise. From being all go and no whoa he became so laid back it was difficult to find the go button! We made more progress in the following weeks than we had in the past 2 years and continue to do so which I believe is because he is now more comfortable both physically and mentally. We first met Sue Jacobsen when we moved our horse starting and educating business ‘Watkins Horse Handlers’ to Bakers Hill in 2007. We like to have a very good team of professional people available to us in our line of work so it was a relief to hear that Sue worked in the area as she came very highly recommended.
Over the last three years, Sue has helped us many times both with client’s horses and our own animals. Young horses do sometimes need help with minor soreness during the starting process, plus often horses that present with behavioral issues actually have physical issues that they are trying to communicate. Sue has been invaluable in treating soreness here and helping to diagnose soreness in horses. She has also been fantastic with follow up help once client’s horses leave us to go home.
