Welcome to Sydney Animal Physiotherapy
About Us
We are about giving your pet the best possible treatment:
Kristine is a physiotherapist and acupuncturist with over 20 years experience.
She has managed her own two (human) physiotherapy clinics, has been treating animals for the last 9 years, & opened Sydney Animal Physiotherapy in 2007, the first animal physio clinic in Sydney. Kristine is a qualified yoga teacher & pilates instructor, rides her horse, Goldie, in her (rare!) spare time, also loves to dance, in particular, rock and roll, jazz & belly dance.
All this is to say Kristine is passionate about exercise, movement & keeping ones body healthy, strong & agile for as long as possible.her horse is 31 years old and still loves to canter, and one of Kristine s favourite pictures is that of an 85 year old yoga devotee doing an extreme backbend. Whether we are people or animals, we should continue to move well and happily, without discomfort, for most of our lives. This comes down to a healthy lifestyle, good diet and plenty of appropriate exercise. It also is dependent on attending to problems when they arise: so many people bring themselves in for treatment after they have had a problem for a long time; often people say of themselves (and their animals) thought nothing could be done, just old age etc. The Eastern philosophy of having regular treatment while you are well, to stay well, is vastly different to our philosophy of putting up with a problem until we are no longer able to ignore it.
What we Do
Animals suffer from many of the same ailments that people do e.g. arthritis, back and neck pain, trauma. Staff at our centre apply their knowledge of treating people to animals.
Animal physiotherapists must be qualified human physios before they can start to treat animals, so we are all very experienced in hands on treatment for bodies, whether they have two legs or four. Some animal physios continue to treat human clients as well; it is quite common for a client to bring in their animal for treatment, see the results, then ask for treatment for themselves.
Conversely, some human clients have had successful treatment for themselves, then look around for a physiotherapist to give similar treatment to their dog (cat, horse etc). Treatment is specifically tailored to the patient and the condition, it would typically include joint mobilization, massage, stretching, perhaps acupuncture, and of course, an exercise programme.
We offer a wide range of services, including:
Physiotherapy
Hydrotherapy &
Acupuncture for animals
Treatment of:
Back problems
Neurological conditions
Pre & post operative cases
