Tai Chi For All

Welcome to Tai Chi For All

About the style and the teacher

At Tai Chi for All we teach Shang Gou (deceptive) style. The movements are similar to the Yang style but there is an emphasis on the deceptive nature of the moves and the application of 'push hands' to trick the opponent. The set has 108 moves, divided into six levels. We also teach the Lotus Chi Kung, the Lohan Chi Kung, the Shibashi one Chi Kung, the Yin Yang Sword and the Dragon Phoenix Fan set.

The chief instructor is Master Robert Russell-Brown. He began studying martial arts in 1957, beginning with Judo and then concentrating on Ju Jutsu with Master Jan de Jong, principal of the Ju Jutsu Kan, Perth where Robert taught for many years. In the mid 1960s he studied the Indonesian fighting art of Pencak Silat, then pioneered the study of Japanese Karate (Shotokan) in Perth, Western Australia, receiving the rank of third dan (honorary). He founded the Martial Arts Club at the University of W.A. and ran his own martial arts academy, teaching Ju Jutsu and Karate at both centres. He has also studied other martial arts, such as archery, Kung Fu, Chinese shoulder pole, Japanese sword and French foil.

Benefits of Tai Chi

Anyone can benefit from Tai Chi -- like most low-impact exercises, it can be an important part of a healthy lifestyle. While western medicine doesn't consider Tai Chi to be able to cure illnesses, health care professionals often suggest it as a complementary therapy for many conditions...
