Naturopathy
Naturopathy is a system of medicine based on the healing power of nature. Naturopathy is a holistic system, meaning that naturopaths strive to find the cause of disease by understanding the client in their totality of body, mind, and spirit. Most naturopaths use a wide variety of therapies and techniques (such as nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and massage).
There are two areas of focus in naturopathy: one is supporting the body's own healing abilities, and the other is empowering individuals to make lifestyle changes necessary for the best possible health. While naturopaths treat both short bouts of illness and chronic conditions, our emphasis is on prevention of disease and patient education.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine, refers to the use of a plant's seeds, berries, roots, leaves, bark, or flowers for medicinal purposes. Herbalism is gaining more and more results in clinical research showing their value in the treatment and prevention of disease.
For most herbs, the specific ingredient that causes a therapeutic effect is not known. Although stansardised extracts in the form of tinctures and capsules contain standardised amounts of what has been tested to be the active ingredients. Whole herbs contain many ingredients, they work together to produce the desired medicinal effect.
Nutrition and Lifestyle Advice
Macro and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, protien, carbohydrate and fats) are the building blocks of all functions that occur within our bodies, ensuring optimal levels of these for your specific demands creates a solid foundation for health and wellbeing. Lifestyle advice is about creating opportunities for making positive choices around the way in which we think and act.
Massage Therapy
Massage is the hands on approach, using manipulation of soft tissue to induce a beneficial structural, functional or psychological response. Tammy has extensive training in remedial, relaxation, sports, lymphatic, trigger point, myofascial technique, pregnancy and oncology massage.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a form of medicine based on the pretense of 'like cures like' and the use of extremely weak dilutions of substances to induce a therapeutic effect. These preparations are particularly useful for children, in pregnancy and those on multiple pharmaceuticals.
Hemaview
Tammy is also a fully qualified Hemaview practitioner. Hemaview Live Blood Screening is an exciting new way of viewing your health on a cellular level! It combines Tammy's years of experience in Haematology with her love for explaining how amazing each individual persons health is and how they can make the most of it!
A consult includes a thorough case history, urine testing, a little finger prick for a drop of blood and then you get to view your cells right there on a screen in front of you. You leave with a comprehensive report including photo's and an idea for the best way forward.
