SERVICES
Welcome to The Acupuncture Studio Melbourne

We are honoured to be a part of a growing international movement to bring high quality acupuncture to a broader population. We are able to make this happen by using the same community setting that has been used in China for hundreds of years which allows for more people to experience this ancient practice.

We have one large room with seven super comfortable reclining chairs that allow multiple people to be treated in one space. This also brings about a wonderful dynamic that happens when a group of people are feeling the same healing energy in one room. This treatment style also allows a lower cost to the patient, enabling more frequent treatments if needed.

Treatment is provided on comfortable reclining chairs in a quiet soothing and shared space. Treatments cost between $25 to $45 (cash only) on a sliding scale – pay what you can afford, no concessions needed.

What to expect at The Acupuncture Studio

First visit
On our bookings page you will find a detailed health Intake form to download. Please fill it in and bring to your initial visit. Alternatively, please allow five to ten minutes before your appointment to fill one in at the Acupuncture Studio. When you arrive you will have a private one to one consultation with the acupuncturist, and we will then formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan for your individual health needs.

You will then be seated in one of our reclining chairs, while very fine disposable needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points on the body. During your treatmen you will remain fully clothed, as most points are chosen on the arms, legs, neck and head. Please be sure to wear comfortable, loose clothing that can be rolled up to your knees and elbows. Acupuncture needles are left in for as long as needed, generally 20 minutes, but can be longer or shorter depending on the condition. Please allow up to one hour for total treatment time on your first appointment.

Subsequent visits

On follow up visits to The Acupuncture Studio, you come in, pay your fee, find a recliner and get comfortable. The acupuncturist will quietly come over to you, and discuss changes to your health complaints and needs for treatment that day. Your needles will then be inserted and left in as you relax and let the healing begin! Please leave up to 45 minutes for follow up treatments.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a safe and natural form of Chinese Medicine that treats a wide variety of ailments. When there is pain or illness the body’s Qi, or vital energy cannot flow freely. By placing very fine needles gently into the skin at various points Qi moves through pathways called meridians. This treatment stimulates the body’s own healing processes restoring good health and function.

Diagnosis and treatment is unique to the individual and therefore responses to treatment and healing vary. The overall benefits can be both relaxing and energising.

Acupuncture can help with some problems related to:
  • Digestive
  • Emotional
  • Ear/Nose/Throat
  • Gynaecological
  • Musculoskeletal
  • Neurological
  • Respiratory
  • And many more.....

Our Practitioners

Kerry Marshall, Registered Acupuncturist

Kerry obtained her acupuncture licence at The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, UK. She is registered with The Chinese Medicine board of Victoria, a member of The Australian Natural Therapies Association and an overseas member of The British Acupuncture Council.

After a sojourn to London that lasted 15 years Kerry has returned to her native Melbourne to be closer to her family. She learnt her acupuncture skills in the UK and continued her knowledge in specialised areas of practice always working alongside inspired colleagues who share her ethos of healthcare. With six years of experience in busy clinics and insightful views of practice in two countries she feels excited about moving into the community multi bed style to treat her patients.

When not sticking pins in people Kerry can be found at a yoga class, at various cafes enjoying a chai latte, down the surf coast or playing her guitar.

"Visiting Asia in my early 20's I was introduced to a Tibetan Dr Yeshi Donden in Northern India after a bout of 'Delhi Belly'. With tongue and pulse diagnosis I was prescribed herbs and immediately felt better, healthier than I had before. I was fascinated with this form of healing and inspired to learn. WIth continuous studies in holistic techniques I chose acupuncture to focus on."

Stephanie Bowen, Registered Acupuncturist

Stephanie earned her Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Emperors College of TCM in Los Angeles, California in 2005. After five years of busy practice in LA, she relocated to Melbourne with her Australian partner and is thrilled to make this beautiful city home. Stephanie is truly inspired by the Community Acupuncture model, and is excited about the prospect of many more people being exposed to the wonders of Chinese Medicine and seeing what it can do for them. Stephanie studied with Dr Richard Tan in the Balance Method, and witnessed daily the fast way that this style of acupuntcure can bring people out of pain, and can improve their quality of life.

Stephanie is a registered with the Chinese Medicine Registration Board of Victoria and a happy member of the Australian Natural Therapies Association.

"I have always loved the idea of bringing community to all aspects of life, and really find this way of treating people in one space a beautiful way to do it. Over the years I have talked with many people that tell me they love the treatment- they may be unable to afford it regularly , and with this style of treating, they can."

When she is not practicing acupuncture, you can find Stephanie sipping coffee, riding trams and perfecting her Australian accent.
